Job Summary

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to support the performance development and health of our athletes. This individual will work closely with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and other performance staff to implement, monitor, and adapt physical training programs for the Phantoms' players during the AHL season, with additional responsibilities assisting in the Philadelphia Flyers’ offseason training program. This position plays a vital role for player development, reconditioning, injury prevention, and return-to-play protocols, with the aim of maximizing individual athletic potential while aligning with organizational philosophies and sports science strategies.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, delivery, and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for Lehigh Valley Phantoms players during the AHL season.
  • Execute in-season reconditioning protocols, working in collaboration with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and medical staff to support players returning from injury.
  • Participate in and contribute to off-season training programs for Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms players under the direction of the Flyers’ Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Track and analyze performance and workload data (Catapult, Force Deck, Force Frame, 1080 etc.) to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Coordinate targeted warm-up, cooldown, and recovery strategies that integrate physical and mental preparation.
  • Monitor body weight, hydration, nutrition and other performance metrics in coordination with the nutrition and medical staff.
  • Maintain accurate records for all training sessions, reconditioning efforts, and athlete monitoring data.
  • Travel with the team as needed, supporting performance and recovery strategies on the road.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and performance excellence among athletes.
  • Ensure compliance with all team, league (AHL), and affiliate (NHL/Flyers) policies and protocols.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
