Assistant Athletic Trainer
Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Trainer plays a critical role in supporting the overall health, safety, and performance of NHL players. This position is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of player injuries, while partnering closely with the Head Athletic Trainer to deliver comprehensive, high-quality medical care in a fast-paced, elite performance environment.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in the prevention, assessment, and management of acute and chronic player injuries
- Provide day-to-day treatment and rehabilitation services, including therapeutic modalities and recovery protocols
- Support on-ice medical coverage during practices and games, including emergency response as needed
- Travel with the team to provide continuous care and ensure continuity of treatment plans
- Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer, team physicians, and performance staff on individualized player care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical documentation in compliance with NHL and NHLPA standards
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and medical supplies
- Contribute to injury prevention programming, including conditioning, recovery, and wellness initiatives
- Ensure adherence to league protocols, health and safety standards, and best practices in sports medicine
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) with current licensure as require
- Current CPR/BLS certification required
- Eligible for PA and NJ athletic training licensure
- Advanced manual or instrument-assisted therapy certifications preferred
- Strong knowledge of sports injury evaluation, rehabilitation techniques, and therapeutic modalities
- Ability to work in a high-performance, team-oriented professional sports environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- High level of discretion and ability to manage confidential medical information
Work Environment & Expectations
- Requires extensive travel and non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- High-intensity, fast-paced environment supporting professional athletes
- Direct collaboration with coaches, medical staff, and performance personnel

Salary:
Pay Range: This job can be performed in New Jersey with a Pay Range of $59,512.10 - $89,268.16
