Summary
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has excellent and immediate opportunities for Interns at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement. We are a one of a kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park. NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena. We are seeking unique Part-Time Floating Interns to join our team.  Interns are expected to work a minimum of twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) hours per week with up to a 1-year commitment and must be currently enrolled in at minimum of a 2-to-4-year program.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Depending on the department or departments an intern is selected for duties may include the following:  
·         Shadow and assist varied positions within ASM Global NRG Park to learn a variety of skills which may include: graphics, billing, content development, sports marketing/ sponsorships, Technical Services Audio Visual, Scoreboard / Videoboard Operations, Smart City Networks (Event Setup), Security, Safety, Maintenance, Engineering, Parking, Finance and/or Operations.
·         Perform administrative duties, maintain files, organize documents, photocopy, fax, etc. as needed.
·         Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
·         Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
·         May perform other duties as assigned.

·         Demonstrate knowledge in industry terminology, facility capabilities, operational procedures, event coordination and event-related services.
·         Possess knowledge of the principles of facility management, building operations, maintenance, practices and safety requirements.
·         Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
·         Strong oral and written communication skills.
·         Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.  
·         Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
·         Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
·         Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
·         Maintain and handle confidential information.
·         Coordinate and satisfy the requirements of multiple events occurring simultaneously.
·         Energetic and eager to tack new projects and ideas.
·         Pleasant and helpful telephone demeanor when assisting guests, exhibitors, clients and staff.
·         Work extended and/or irregular hours due to assigned events including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.
 
Education and/or Experience        
·         Enrollment in or graduated from a two or four year program at an accredited college or university with the intent to pursue a career in the Sports and Entertainment industry.
·         Major course of study in one of the following areas:   


Ø  Sports Management/Administration
Ø  Sales                                  
Ø  Communications (i.e. Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or Advertising)
Ø  Security or Safety (i.e. Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Safety    Management, Occupational Safety & Health, etc.).
Ø  Hotel Management
Ø  Business Administration                              
Ø  Health & Sport Sciences      
Ø  Information Technology
Ø  Physical Education                          
Ø  Finance
·         Previous experience preferred.


 
Skills and Abilities
·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
·         Ability to reach deadlines and work quickly and efficiently.
·         Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
·         Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
·         Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
 
Computer Skills
Depending on the department or departments an intern is selected for computer skills may include the following:  
·         Operate standard office equipment and personal computer(s) using Outlook, MS Windows, Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint, CCTV and/or Security Systems.
·         Experience in Microsoft Office, Windows 7, 10 and Mac OSX.
·         HTML, graphic design, and Adobe Creative Suite knowledge a plus in some departments.
 
Other Qualifications
·         Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
