The Catering Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in the Food and Beverage team, responsible for marketing, selling, contracting, and detailing events at the Mayo Civic Center in collaboration with other sales and events staff. This position is crucial for driving catering revenue and ensuring exceptional client experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the sales team in achieving sales and marketing goals for catering services.
  • Utilize sales and marketing principles to effectively promote the facility's catering offerings.
  • Support the Director in developing comprehensive sales plans, including goals and marketing initiatives.
  • Actively prospect new and repeat business to meet established catering revenue targets within the specified market segments.
  • Execute specific sales plans related to events, leveraging advertising support as requested by the Director.
  • Quote rates, food and beverage minimums, or pricing estimates, and assist with formal license agreements. Prepare and execute catering contracts.
  • Foster strong partnerships with operational departments and the onsite Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) sales team.
  • Maintain an active list of resources for both client and internal operational use.
  • Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures related to catering sales.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of menus and event offering cost structures to ensure profitability guidelines are met.
  • Detail all Food and Beverage components for self-contracted programs and assigned accounts contracted by DMO Sales Managers. Produce required Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and secure client approval.
  • Send clients pre-event information and follow-up communications affecting bookings.
  • Collaborate with Event Managers to handle pre-event client correspondence and meetings to detail the food and beverage components of assigned/contracted events.
  • Liaise with culinary and operations teams to ensure proper dissemination of information for event logistics.
  • Coordinate menu tastings as requested and applicable.
  • Greet on-site client representatives for all assigned events and provide proper introductions and turnovers to operations staff.
  • Work in conjunction with sales and events teams to organize client post-event meetings, as necessary, to gather feedback.
  • Produce necessary sales reports and track metrics as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Hospitality, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of sales-related experience required, preferably within a facility or industry setting.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time effectively.
  • High aptitude for figures and advanced writing skills.
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and interact with all levels of staff, including management.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software.
Other Qualifications:
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Some travel may be required.
