The Role

The Manager, Tax is responsible for overseeing Legends Global’s Canadian tax function, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial tax requirements while supporting the organization’s continued growth.

This role is accountable for accurate, timely, and supportable tax reporting and will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to provide guidance on tax-related matters across the business.

The role also focuses on identifying process improvements and opportunities for automation, while acting as a key internal resource on Canadian tax matters.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of Canadian indirect tax compliance, including GST/HST, PST, and QST returns, elections, and remittances

  • Oversee Canadian federal and provincial corporate income tax compliance, including T2 filings and related schedules

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess tax implications related to business activities, growth initiatives, and new offerings

  • Prepare, review, and reconcile tax accruals as part of monthly and year-end close processes

  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on Canadian tax matters

  • Manage tax audits, notices, and disputes, and act as a primary contact with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and provincial authorities

  • Review and enhance tax processes, including identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and automation

  • Support facility-level teams in maintaining compliance with applicable tax reporting requirements

  • Oversee tax registrations, filings, and licensing requirements across jurisdictions

  • Perform other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role may include supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including supporting employee development, assigning work, and providing performance-related feedback, where applicable.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of Canadian tax experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field

  • CPA designation or progress toward designation is preferred

  • Experience in a multi-entity or high-growth environment is an asset

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations, including GST/HST, PST, QST, and corporate income tax

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with tax engines and POS systems (e.g., Avalara, Shopify, Square)

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments

  • Proficiency in accounting, data analysis, and journal entries

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Compensation

Salary range: C$115,000 – C$120,000 CAD, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
