Compensation: Dependent on experience. Range: $76,000 – $82,000 annually.
General Summary:
The Senior Sales Manager plays a key leadership role in driving revenue growth, optimizing venue occupancy, and managing high-level client relationships at the Colorado Convention Center (CCC). In collaboration with VISIT DENVER, this position works to secure major event bookings, develop strategic sales initiatives, and guide clients through the contracting process. Ideal candidates will bring significant experience in the hospitality or events industry—preferably with a convention center, major venue, or Destination Marketing Organization (DMO)—along with excellent negotiation, communication, and client service skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Revenue Generation:
In partnership with VISIT DENVER, lead sales efforts for citywide conventions and large-scale events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
Negotiate license agreements that support CCC’s business objectives while meeting client needs
Analyze event trends, forecast revenue opportunities, and support long-term strategic planning
Cultivate industry relationships to stay informed of market trends and competitive positioning
Account and Client Management:
Serve as the primary liaison for key accounts, ensuring a seamless client experience from inquiry through execution
Maintain strong working relationships with VISIT DENVER to ensure accurate and efficient information sharing for shared accounts
Deliver high-level customer service and respond promptly to inquiries from multiple sources
Promote client retention through proactive communication, attention to detail, and thoughtful solutions
Internal Collaboration and Leadership:
Work closely with the Assistant Director of Sales and Director of Sales & Services to support team goals and mentor junior staff
Collaborate with internal departments — including Event Management, Operations, and Guest Services — to ensure alignment on client expectations and logistics
Contribute to team strategies, tools, and process improvements that drive efficiency and results
Represent the CCC at both internal meetings and external engagements with professionalism and poise
Administrative and Organizational Support:
Manage documentation, contracts, correspondence, and CRM entries with accuracy and timeliness
Support performance tracking, forecasting, and reporting functions
Represent CCC at trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department and organizational success
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum 5–7 years of progressive sales experience in the events, hospitality, or tourism industry
Experience with convention centers, DMOs, or large event venues strongly preferred
Demonstrated success managing high-revenue accounts and large-scale event bookings
CMP certification preferred
Proven experience with contract development and negotiation required

Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
Experience with Momentus (formerly Ungerboeck) or similar venue management and CRM systems strongly preferred
Working Conditions:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse conditions. As a public assembly facility with an event-driven focus, schedule flexibility may be required to coincide with event activity. Infrequent travel may be necessary.
