THE ROLE
The Retail Associate is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience by providing knowledgeable customer service, accurately processing transactions, maintaining retail presentation standards, and supporting daily store operations. This role serves as an ambassador of the One World Observatory brand by assisting guests with retail purchases, product recommendations, and general destination information while ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests by demonstrating product knowledge and enthusiasm for available merchandise.
- Consistently strive to exceed guest expectations through professional and courteous interactions.
- Suggest additional merchandise and retail options based on guest needs and interests.
- Provide guidance to guests regarding One World Observatory retail offerings and general New York City attractions and information.
- Accurately process all retail transactions through the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Collect and reconcile cash, credit card, and other forms of payment in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate cash handling practices and balance assigned banks at the end of each shift.
- Ensure all retail fixtures, displays, and merchandise are clean, stocked, organized, and guest-ready.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly inventory activities as assigned.
- Maintain professional personal hygiene and appearance standards in accordance with company guidelines.
- Complete all opening and closing procedures as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one (1) year of retail, hospitality, attractions, tourism, or customer service experience preferred.
- Previous experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system preferred.
- Experience handling cash and processing financial transactions preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong guest service orientation with a commitment to creating memorable experiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with guests from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to suggestively sell merchandise and promote retail offerings.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and transaction processing.
- Basic mathematical and cash reconciliation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
COMPENSATION
$20/hour + a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan.
