Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is consistently ranked as the #1 entertainment venue in the state. Our venue boasts a full calendar of events including concerts, comedy shows, family shows, sporting events, banquets, conventions, trade shows, meetings, and more. With the attached Convention Center and Arena, we are the largest venue between Omaha and Fargo, and from Minneapolis to Denver.

THE ROLE

The Facility Maintenance Technician role is responsible for monitoring, repairing, and maintaining various types of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as general facility maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately maintain records of labor time, parts used, and work accomplished.
  • Responsible for general building maintenance repair, including but not limited to the repair/replacement of bathroom door hardware, ceiling tiles, seats, furniture, HVAC, plumbing, light electrical, roof and field assistance.
  • Timely completion of assigned reactive and preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required in a team-orientated, can-do environment.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, willingness to cross train, and ability to learn on the job.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in building maintenance
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess a strong general mechanical ability
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, knowledge of security and safety

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge in the repair of drywall, doors, and associated hardware, millwork, seating, and furniture
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs to major systems
  • Knowledge of various types of staging, manlifts, and forklifts
  • Knowledge of concrete repair, tile, and grout repair, VCT and rug repair
  • Knowledge of laminates and commercial framing
  • Ability to work independently or under the direction of the building engineer
  • Ability to run various small pieces of machinery such as pressure washers, saws, drills, grinders, and other equipment
  • Possesses computer skills
  • Experience with electronic preventive maintenance programs preferred
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift 40 lbs. unaided
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform work at high heights
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Capable of working nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines and function under stress
