Position Overview

Legends Global is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead operations at The Sound, a premier concert venue located on-site at the Del Mar Fairgrounds & Racetrack. This is a senior-level leadership role with primary responsibility for Food & Beverage performance, venue operations, and event execution.

The General Manager will work in close partnership with our booking partner (Belly Up) to ensure seamless coordination between booking, production, hospitality, and guest services. The ideal candidate is an operationally disciplined leader with strong P&L ownership experience, deep knowledge of live event environments, and a hands-on approach to venue management.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Direct all venue operations including Food & Beverage, guest services, security coordination, facilities, and event logistics.
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative for Legends Global.
  • Ensure operational excellence during all concerts and special events.
  • Oversee compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Food & Beverage Management

  • Own full F&B P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Drive revenue through bar strategy, premium offerings, staffing optimization, and inventory management.
  • Develop SOPs for concessions, bars, and hospitality areas.
  • Monitor labor efficiency and implement best practices for high-volume service environments.

Event Execution & Partner Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with Belly Up on event scheduling, advancing, and show-day coordination.
  • Participate in production meetings to align staffing, service levels, and hospitality execution.
  • Ensure artist hospitality standards are met in accordance with riders and contractual obligations.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Manage budgets, financial reporting, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze sales data and operational KPIs to identify revenue optimization opportunities.
  • Approve payroll, vendor contracts, and supply procurement within company guidelines.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Recruit, train, and develop venue staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and safety.
  • Lead pre- and post-event briefings.
  • Maintain strong communication between Legends leadership and on-site teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of senior management experience in live entertainment venues, arenas, amphitheaters, or high-volume hospitality environments.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership, particularly in Food & Beverage operations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), scheduling platforms, reporting tools, and cloud-based operational systems.
  • Strong understanding of concert operations, artist relations, and event production workflows.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven ability to manage labor models for event-driven businesses.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with booking partners or promoters.
  • Knowledge of California alcohol service regulations.
  • Background in venue openings or operational scaling.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, reporting, inventory integration, and real-time sales analytics in high-volume event environments.
