The Role
The Food & Beverage Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all bar operations and beverage services throughout the venue, ensuring exceptional guest experience, operational efficiency, and compliance with company standards. This role manages beverage service in premium areas, suites, bars, catering functions, special events, backstage hospitality, and in-seat premium bar services. The Bar Manager is responsible for leading staff, maintaining inventory controls, ensuring responsible alcohol service, and delivering high-quality beverage experiences across all events and guest touchpoints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead venue-wide beverage operations for bars, premium areas, suites, catering functions, backstage hospitality, special events, and in-seat premium bar services.
- Develop beverage menus, cocktail programs, pricing strategies, promotions, and upselling initiatives that enhance guest experience and support revenue growth.
- Partner with clients, venue leadership, catering, premium services, and event operations to identify beverage service needs and ensure successful event execution.
- Prepare beverage orders, staffing plans, and service documents for concerts, sporting events, private functions, and other venue events.
- Supervise bar setup, service execution, event breakdown, post-event reconciliation, and closing procedures to ensure consistent quality and efficient operations.
- Directly supervises employees within the Food & Beverage Department, including Bars, Concessions, Premium Services, Catering, and related beverage operations
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and develop bartenders, bar supervisors, and support staff while assigning duties and promoting accountability.
- Maintain beverage purchasing, inventory controls, product rotation, loss prevention procedures, and accurate records of inventory transactions and operational reports.
- Manage labor, beverage costs, operating expenses, sales projections, budgets, and revenue goals within approved guidelines.
- Analyze sales performance, beverage costs, labor expenses, and inventory variances to identify opportunities for improved profitability and service delivery.
- Ensure beverage quality, presentation, consistency, sanitation, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards are met across all service locations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and beverage partners to support operational and financial objectives.
- Conduct venue tours and participate in client meetings to showcase beverage service capabilities and premium hospitality offerings.
- Uphold company policies, venue standards, and Food & Beverage Department procedures while promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Hospitality, Food & Beverage Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Food & Beverage management experience, preferably in a high-volume venue, arena, stadium, hotel, catering, or events environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading beverage operations, supervising teams, managing inventory, controlling costs, and supporting revenue goals.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, health and safety standards, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Ability to work a flexible event-based schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with Food & Beverage point-of-sale or management systems, including Micros or similar platforms, preferred.
- Food Handling Certification and Alcohol Awareness Certification required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the company.
- Valid driver’s license is preferred, if required for business needs.
