SUMMARY

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Catering Manager with Legends Global, at the BMO Center, Coronado Theatre, and Davis Park in Rockford, IL.

The Catering Manager will be responsible for assisting in the execution of catered and private events as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage, with the purpose of providing the highest degree of customer service while meeting or exceeding customer service, financial, sanitation, and organization goals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary.

  • Review all banquet event order information to ensure successful execution of catered events.
  • Work with Director of Food & Beverage to fulfill labor requirements.
  • Assist in order compilation and placing of linen, beverage & disposable ware orders.
  • Coordinate function details with sales staff, event coordinators, and culinary staff.
  • Coordinate food set-up and/or delivery time with culinary staff.
  • Prepare pre-event meetings with catering staff.
  • Direct and supervise all catering staff to ensure high-quality service.
  • Maintain an active presence during events with close attention to organizational details, customer service, sanitation, and labor allocation.
  • Enforce cleanliness and sanitation practices of catering services.
  • Manage labor force to ensure efficiency and timeliness of duties.
  • Oversee opening/closing duties.
  • Assist with retail services and bars when the schedule allows.
  • Supervise all catering staff in a manner consistent with Legends Global Human Resource Policies and Procedures.
  • Promote a safe work environment and report any potential hazards.
  • Assist with ongoing training of all Catering Services staff as necessary.
  • Contribute to maintaining weekly labor cost goals while ensuring high-quality service, sanitation, and product usage practices are followed.
  • Assist in monthly food and beverage inventories & periodic small wares inventories.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong working knowledge of catering and banquet operations.
  • Excellent guest service skills and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to effectively manage employees.
  • Must be able to always maintain a professional demeanor with patrons as well as employees.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to pass ServSafe Managers Training & Alcoholic Beverage Service Training.
  • Ability to handle multiple events in a fast-paced environment in a professional manner.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office applications: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions.
  • Strong sense of urgency.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent food service experience preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the food and beverage industry required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a catering environment preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Daily standing, walking, and stooping.  Daily reaching and handling products.
  • Occasionally sitting, focusing on, and operating a personal computer several times a day.
  • Ability to access information in print and on computer/terminal monitor for the purpose of accessing catering orders, scheduling staff, and ordering supplies.
  • Daily lifting up to 50 lbs. above shoulder level, up to 5 minutes at a time. Daily carrying up to 50 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.
  • Need to be able to communicate with others in a noisy environment and to understand warning signals and other notifications.

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 40 hours per week.

Irregular hours including weekends and evenings as dictated by event schedule.

Salary Range: $55,000.00-$65,000.00
