Marathon Tours & Travel and Sportive Breaks offers tours, travel packages, and guaranteed entry to marathons, cycling events, and long-distance triathlons around the world, together with VIP hospitality access to many of the top professional cycling events as well as managing travel programs for mass participation events.
Due to an exciting year of growth, we are now looking for a Hotel Specialist to join our Boston team who will be responsible for developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with hotels, hotel brands and other lodging relationships domestically and internationally.
This is a varied, hands-on role and on a typical day you will
- Work closely with our Hotel Manager on all aspects of accommodations management.
- Work closely with Trip Designers on the lodging portions of MTT tour packages.
- Create and manage hotel relationships, help to negotiate contracts and lodging budget for tour packages.
- Regularly review existing contracts to ensure we are receiving the best rates in the market.
- Be responsible for inventory setup and sales; and assist with marketing of “Hotel Only” packages.
- Occasionally assist Trip Designers with the hosting of select trips.
To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will
- Have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Have 3 or more years experience within business, sales & hotel management
- Have a passion for cycling, marathons & triathlon events (not essential but would be advantageous)
- Be comfortable with public speaking & communicating with those at all levels
- Be organised & detail orientated
- Possess strong client-service and vendor management orientation along with solid interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
- Have experience with evaluating hotel contracts and negotiating mutually beneficial agreements.
- Have a past history of developing relationships with existing and potential clients and partners, resulting in financial or other benefits to the organization.
- Have the ability to understand and follow internal business processes, recommending and deploying improvements where possible.
- Possess strong capabilities in writing proposals and contracts.
- Possess business knowledge or familiarity of end-to-end travel lifecycle and hotel operations and contracts preferred.
- Have the ability to professionally and effectively represent Marathon Tours & Travel on the phone and in face to face interactions.
- Work as a team player to establish business processes and meet team goals.
- Be able to travel domestically and internationally, when required.
