The Kokomo Jackrabbits are a subsidiary of ROC Ventures and a member of the Northwoods League, the largest and most successful summer collegiate baseball league in the country. We are offering exciting internship opportunities to help launch your career. Operations internships include:

·        Experience in all major functional areas of the baseball business.

·        Work as a manager, not a go-fer.

·        Get sales training and hands-on experience.

·        Join a staff with a history of sending grads to full-time jobs in the industry.

 

This is a great chance to get hands-on experience across multiple disciplines in the sports industry, while also making your mark on a young organization.

 

Operations interns will participate in a wide range of activities, not pigeon-holed into limited job responsibilities that only give you a glimpse of what it takes to run a sports franchise. Instead, you will be a part of sales, tickets, concessions, hospitality, game operations, ballpark operations, and community outreach efforts--virtually anything that the team does. This is not your typical “go-fer” internship; you’ll have substantive roles that will provide you with valuable managerial experience. Interns will have supervisory and training responsibilities that augment their hands-on experience. You will also take part in ongoing sales, public relations, and community outreach efforts during the season. This is the sort of management and special event experience that is incredibly valuable and rare for interns.

 

In short, as a full-time member of the front office, you will participate in staff meetings, plan and execute games and events throughout the summer, and directly impact how this organization takes shape. You will not only be a part of a sports franchise, but you’ll get to put your stamp on it, too!

 

Internship candidates should be interested in a career in sports and enthusiastic about the opportunity to join a vibrant organization. Prior experience in sports is beneficial but not necessary. You will be working in a social atmosphere with large crowds as well as more individualized settings, so comfort in both environments is helpful. Interns should be computer-savvy, and creativity is a plus. You must be ready and willing to work as part of a team, you must be open-minded, and you should always be prepared to learn. Interns must be committed to working long hours including nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.

 

Interns will be expected to begin work by early to mid-May – starting early is encouraged, if possible – and work through the end of the season in mid-August, dependent on the team’s postseason play and the intern’s school schedule. All interns will receive a $100 per month, taxable stipend during their internship. Of course, you will gain substantial experience that will serve you throughout your professional career. Interns should receive credit for the internship or be directly supervised by a professor or advisor from their degree program.
