Job Summary- Koa is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. We are a dynamic, fun, growing company, with a bleeding passion for sports! We have roughly a dozen full time employees and a part time staff of over 200 and looking for more all-stars. This position is responsible for day to day baseball camp and management operations for our collegiate summer baseball partner, the Silver Spring Thunderbolts. The job is located at Koa Sports HQ- 9801 Washingtonian Blvd #105 Gaithersburg, MD 20878, with travel to local fields and parks for camp/events. This position reports directly to Brock Hunter.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Master Koa's systems, including but not limited to:
- Humanity, Sports Engine, League Apps, Google Docs, Social Media (IG,
Facebook, and YouTube)
- Be able to manage kids 8-14 years old in in a youth sports setting
- Assist with camp and help manage staffing
- Assist with setup and breakdown of camp equipment and storage
- Work directly with the Thunderbolts manager and camp director to improve camp
- Answer general phone calls and baseball specific questions
- Comfortably and professionally email camp parents with Koa provided email address
Qualifications & Skills:
- Played at least high school baseball (college experience is preferred)
- Working knowledge of baseball technology
- Effectively Throw batting practice and hit fungos
- Proficient use of a radar gun and pocket radar
- Proficient communication, verbal and electronic
- Excellent problem solver
- Can lift heavy bags of at least 40 pounds of equipment
- General understanding on how to maintain a baseball field, including but not limited to, raking, tarping, locking fields, taking pictures of a field, and mound care (tamping, fill dirt, etc…)
Position: Your title will be Thunderbolts Summer Camp and Operations Intern. You will report to the Thunderbolts Manager and our Travel Baseball Director, Brock Hunter. Internship offer is contingent upon a passed federal background check.
Credits: This position is a non-paid internship, however you will receive college credit or SSL hours. Please send your supervisor the necessary paperwork from your school in order to receive credit for this position. There are paid opportunities if you are fit to assistant coaching a high school travel team.
Employment Relationship: Employment with Koa Sports is from June 1st 2023 to August 1st 2023. Your employment with the company will be “at will” meaning that either you or the company may terminate your internship at any time and for any reason, with or without cause.
