About the Position:

Notemeal, a Teamworks’ product, enables sports dietitians to improve athletes’ performance and wellness through optimized nutrition. Founded by two former NFL executives, Notemeal is being adopted by elite sports organizations faster than any other solution in the sports technology market.

Our growing engineering team is looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer who writes clean, modular code; possesses strong technical communication skills (e.g. code reviews and discussing architectural tradeoffs); and exhibits user empathy concerning technical design decisions.

This role is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join the team leading the digital transformation of elite athletics.

Examples of types of problems you’ll be solving:
  • Integrate feedback from elite athletes and industry staff – including Super Bowl, College Football, and NBA champions – to improve user experience across web and mobile apps.
  • Help scale Notemeal’s backend as we grow beyond 10,000 users, while supporting APIs consumed by internal and external clients.
  • Explore and engineer features connecting Teamworks and Notemeal, including using class and practice schedules to build smarter meal plans, streamlining catering during long road trips, etc.
  • Improve our menu suggestion algorithm so that it provides generalized support for in-house menus, restaurants and whatever is next.

How You’ll Work
We’re a remote-first shop.  At the start of the pandemic we had to figure out how to work as a team remotely, and we liked what we saw in terms of giving our team the flexibility they needed to manage their lives while also doing great work on our products. Our offices in Durham, Birmingham and Boston are open for collaboration and optional team-building events – but we have engineers who live in Alaska, Florida, New York, and just about everywhere in between, and showing up to the office is always 100% optional, even for members of the team who live right down the road.

Our Hiring Process
Roles are filled after candidates complete a process comprised of the following steps:
  • Application Review
    • Culture Interview with our People team - the most successful candidates love sports, have a strong desire to be a part of a team that will push them to grow, and most importantly follow our critical NO ASSHOLES™ Rule (and having a sense of humor doesn’t hurt).
  • Coding Problem - an engineer will present a standardized coding challenge that you will be asked to complete over a Zoom call leveraging repl.it for collaboration.
  • Virtual “On-site” - you will meet with various members of the team, over the course of 3-4 hours, over 1 or 2 days, engaging in the following sessions:
  • Systems Design Interview  (60m)
  • UI -> API -> Data Model Interview (60m)
  • Technical Discussion (30m)
  • Non-technical Interview (30m)
  • Culture Screen (30m)
  • Job Offer - Within 48 hours of your panel interview, we’ll let you know whether or not you’re moving on to this stage. If you do reach this stage we’re confident you’ll do great on our team – and we’ll make you an offer with competitive salary and equity compensation and great benefits. If you don’t make it to this stage after your panel interview, we’ll still make a decision and let you know within 48 hours.  We’ll never ghost you, and if you’re open to constructive feedback we’ll always be willing to get on a call and offer feedback on why you weren’t selected.
