Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)
The USL is the largest and fastest growing professional soccer league in the world. Partnered with the MLS, USL teams are owned by some of the top owners from the NBA, MLS, MLB, MLL, MiLB, NHL, NBA D-League. The League’s 15,000 square foot office is located in Tampa, FL and has a staff of over 60 sports business professionals across 17 departments.

Program Purpose
Under the direction and guidance of USL Executives, the USL Work Experience Program (UWEP) provides students with the unique opportunity to gain practical sport management experience in a professional sports league setting.  By working on various strategic projects and initiatives, USL Work Experience Program Participants will gain hands on experience with league staff as well as its member teams.  Participants are responsible for working with all league departments across the entire organization, including finance, sponsorships, broadcasting, business development, digital, marketing, team services, analytics, and legal, with the ultimate goal of providing well-rounded practical work experience in sports.

Responsibilities and Duties: 
·       Assisting and managing clubs through the following: 
o   Revenue database management
§  Collection and implementation of all ticket and corporate sales revenue numbers
§  Comparing information of teams through our portal system and excel spreadsheets
o   Secret Shopper Calls
§  Phone calls to teams discussing the purchase of specific packages and promotions 
§  Intention to find out how they go through a phone call and how they try to sell to you 
o   Conference Calls
§  Assisting on all sales generation conference calls with the league 
·       Creating new tasks and topics for the teams to discuss 
·       Participating in over the phone work with each club 
·       Note preparation during call for minutes and recap 
o   1 on 1 Monthly Calls
§  Preparation and activation of monthly phone calls with directors of revenue generation throughout the league 
§  Opportunity to learn more about what each club is doing to generate sales 
§  Great networking opportunity
o   Research 
§  Creating spreadsheets of information on revenue generation league best practices 
§  Includes the following

  • Current college student, working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field and eligible to receive credit for this position.
·       Hardworking and dedicated
·       Proficient in excel 
·       Eagerness to learn
·       Finishes tasks in a timely and efficient manner
