Position Purpose 
As a strategic member of USL Headquarters, the Vice President, DEI & Community Impact will be the USL’s leader in driving the USL’s overall DEI and community strategies, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion, and ensuring the organization upholds its commitment to that culture. The role will work cross-functionally with departments in the USL to develop, execute, measure, and amplify the organization’s diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and community initiatives both internally and externally. The Vice President, DEI & Community Impact will play a significant role in partnering with our Content, Partnerships, Sporting, and People Operations teams to develop and manage programs that drive action and have a real impact in the USL Headquarters, our clubs, and the communities we serve.  

Duties and Responsibilities 
Specific duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Lead diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and community initiatives throughout the USL.  
  • Lead the execution of the company’s DEI and community strategies, and the design and implementation of strategic DEI and community initiatives to drive cross-functional adaptation and adoption.
  • Work with department leaders to define and establish DEI standards and metrics to support overall DEI and community initiatives.  
  • Lead and support various internal DEI and community committees including IMPACT Committee, IDEA HQ, etc.
  • Support relationships with player advocacy groups across the USL (e.g., Black Players Alliance).
  • Build and manage strong relationships with DEI and community-focused stakeholders, constituents, partners, and civic organizations.
  • Track and support the inclusion of diverse vendors and suppliers to ensure the advancement of DEI and community objectives within partnership opportunities.  
  • Partner with USL Content teams to develop content which highlights diverse storytelling and communities. 
  • Partner with People Operations department to support intentional sourcing, recruiting, and development of diverse talent. 
  • Develop and facilitate training and developmental programs to support an inclusive and diverse culture. 
  • Remain abreast and provide guidance on external communications related to situations, both internal and external, that have a significant community impact. 
  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of various community initiatives (e.g., United Against Racism, Forever Proud, Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, etc.).  
  • Research, analyze and deliver strategic insights, best practices, and recommendations for DEI and community solutions which support the organization’s overarching DEI and community strategies and goals.  
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.  
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. 
  • 8-10 years of professional work experience within DEI/Community.  
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, work with cross-functional teams and interact effectively with all levels. 
  • Strong strategic program/project management, ideation, collaboration, and storytelling skills.  
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent programs/projects and lead them to completion. 
  • Experience facilitating difficult conversations and demonstrating high judgment around confidential or sensitive matters. 
  • Strong presentation abilities, both written and verbal with excellent public speaking and group facilitations skills.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners. 
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment. 
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must. 
  • Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if/when necessary.  
  • Must have U.S. work authorization.
