Communications/Community Relations: Community Relations
Position Overview:
  • The Long Island Rough Riders soccer franchise seek a full-time Community Program Manager with a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the community sports industry.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a proven track record of supporting multiple projects at once with tight deadlines.
  • Housing accommodations are availability if relocation is required.

Job Purpose:
  • Responsible for the creation and management of all community programs, camps, clinics and events.

Key Responsibilities:
Soccer Clinics
  • Set the yearly schedule for all LIRR community soccer clinics to be held for the entire calendar year.
  • Ensure that all clinics are appropriately staffed on-field for each season/week by building a network of high-level coaches.
  • Liaise with the Sales and Promo Manager to create a marketing strategy for all LIRR camps, and work with the necessary company personnel to produce marketing materials and online marketing campaign to ensure maximum participation.
  • Ensure all participants are up-to date with billing, and outstanding balances are notified and collected.
  • Be “the face” of LIRR for every clinic, ensuring registration and check-in operate smoothly and all participants feel welcomed and know where to go on-field.
  • Ensure all on-field staff are in correct uniform, aware of which week and session plan to conduct and all other expectations are communicated daily/weekly. 
  • Monitor all on field coaches and the activities being conducted, providing evaluations at the end of each clinic season to the coaches and quarterly updates to senior management on performance. 
  • Ensure all clinic targets set by the Chief Executive Officer are met.
 
Day/Summer Camps
  • Set the yearly schedule for all camps to be held for the entire calendar year.
  • Source appropriate locations for each day camp throughout the year and manage the relationship with the facilities.
  • Ensure that all clinics are appropriately staffed on-field by building a network of high-level coaches.
  • Communicate with all affiliate club (LISC) coaches as to what camps are upcoming and the details of each camp so that effective promotion can be made to their teams and players.
  • Liaise with the Sales and Promo Manager to create a marketing strategy for all LIRR camps, and work with the necessary company personnel to produce marketing materials and online marketing campaign to ensure maximum participation.
  • Ensure all participants are up-to date with billing, and outstanding balances are notified and collected.
  • Be “the face” of the camps for every camp, ensuring registration and check-in operate smoothly and all participants feel welcomed and know where to go on-field.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is in full working order and organize the transport to the camp location.
  • Ensure all on-field staff are in correct uniform, aware of the curriculum and camp itinerary and all other expectations are communicated prior to the camp.
  • Monitor all on field coaches and the activities being conducted, providing weekly (Summer) and quarterly evaluations to the coaches and updates to senior management on performance. 
  • Ensure all camp targets set by the Chief Executive Officer are met.
 
Residential Camp
  • With direction from the Chief Executive Officer, source an appropriate location to house a LIRR Residential Camp during the Summer.
  • Manage the residential camp location relationship, ensuring all invoicing, payments and necessary document requests are dealt with in a responsive manner. 
  • Liaise with the Sales and Promo Manager to create a marketing strategy for the LIRR Residential camp, and work with the necessary company personnel to produce marketing materials and online marketing campaign to ensure maximum participation.
  • Sourcing and management of the bus transport company to transport all participants to and from the camp.
  • Source parent chaperones and select the appropriate coaching staff for the Residential Camp.
  • Attend and operate the Residential Camp ensuring a great experience for all participants both on AND off the field.
  • Work with the residential camp location staff to create a field, practice and scrimmage schedule for all teams/groups in attendance. 
  • Contact local clubs to organize appropriate level scrimmages for all teams and participants in attendance.
  • Manage all residential camp billing, invoicing, and monies collection.
  • Ensure all residential camp targets set by the Chief Executive Officer are met.
 
School & Community Events
  • Develop a relationship with all local Boards of Education and Parent Teacher Associations in order to work together with the Long Island Rough Riders.
  • Work with the Media department to create a tiered packet of events, programs and options to be presented to schools for collaboration
  • Meet with local school personnel to present the program options
  • Schedule all school events and programs including ensuring they are appropriately staffed 
  • Operate all school events and programs being the “face” of LIRR at such events.
  • Conduct post event/program follow up with all school personnel to ensure continued event improvement.
  • Ensure all attendee contact details are uploaded to the LIRR database.
 
Budget & Financial Management
  • Work with the Chief Executive Director to develop & manage a yearly budget to encompass all community revenue streams to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Manage and achieve short- and long-term financial goals and targets for LIRR community programs as set by the Chief Executive Officer.

Team Responsibilities:
  • Maintain day to day communication with supervisor while attending staff meetings as required.
  • Assist with the operations of Long Island Rough Rider and associated company Events, including but not limited to, games, tournaments, special events, etc.
  • Adhere to all budgetary guidelines while obtaining approval for all financial matters that pertain to each business segment of the Company.
  • Ensure day to day communication with management while providing weekly analysis of work, maintaining current and accurate records of individual work.
  • Maintain the highest possible level of public image, professionalism and integrity to all customers, sponsors and Company employees.
  • Ensure proper compliance of brand identity within Company’s guidelines, including wearing appropriate apparel for all Long Island Rough Rider Events

Qualifications:
  • 4-year college degree from an accredited college/university required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a community sports related environment.
  • On-field soccer coaching knowledge and experience preferred but not required.
  • Positive Attitude and strong work ethic are a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and/or experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Hours:
  • Total of 40 hours per week
  • Specific days and times are varied based on the needs of the facility.
  • Hours worked will be conducted Monday-Sunday (Some weekend/evening work required)
  • Hours to be completed as a mixture of on-site at the sports facility location, off site event locations and at LIRR / Globall Corporate Office 

Compensation Package:
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
