In August 2019, TKFC LC was granted Major League Soccer’s (MLS) 28th team – St. Louis CITY SC. The team will be MLS’ first majority female-owned and female-led organization and has its sights set on launching for the 2023 MLS season. The 100 percent St. Louis-based owners are committed to becoming an exceptional club and neighbor and a symbol for the future of our city and region. Purpose
The St. Louis CITY SC Academy U17 Head Coach is responsible for creating an elite training and competitive environment that strives to recruit players from all parts of the St. Louis region. The U17 Head Coach will strive to achieve the highest level of success by creating a team with a culture of excellence, that provides a life enriching experience and seeks to develop a complete player on and off the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Development and guidance of a youth team according to St. Louis CITY SC’s youth development philosophy
- Plan, organize and execute training sessions according to the St. Louis CITY SC’s training philosophy.
- Development of individual training concepts for each player according to their individual strength and weaknesses.
- Develop St. Louis CITY SC’s youth development philosophy in cooperation with the academy director and the Head of Sports.
- Ensure the goals, strategy and measurable short-term and long-term performance targets for all aspects of the work of the Academy team are aligned with the St. Louis CITY’s vision and coaching/playing philosophy.
- Guidance of your teams coaching staff.
- Contribute positively to a competitive team culture and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Coordination of internal coaching communications throughout the performance level.
- Planning of the squad in cooperation with the Academy Director, the Head of Sports and the Head of Youth Scouting
- Active support of the youth scouting to find and coach the best possible talents.
- Contact person for all organizational and administrative tasks regarding all coaching areas of the performance level
- Stay up to date on coaching licenses and badges.
Qualifications:
- Min. ‘A’ License
- At least 5 years of coaching experience in youth soccer
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of soccer tactics, sport science and multidisciplinary development.
- Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- High ability to work with and guide a team.
- Expert knowledge to identify, develop and support soccer talent.
- Set and maintain a high standard of work performance, delivering quality consistently and effectively.
- Effective communication skills with an emphasis on clearly communicating the mission, vision of the Academy and club culture with players, families and community members.
- Candidate should possess a professional demeanor and communication skills to effectively work with both internal and external constituents.
- Accurate, efficient, and timely execution of tasks and able to be flexible and resourceful in response to changing priorities and needs.
- Excellent facilitation skills, including the ability to manage and resolve tensions, disputes and conflicts.
- Detail oriented and organized with effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, events, and holidays as required.
Physical Effort
- This position will require talking, listening, standing, and physical activity for long periods of time.
Out-of-Office Responsibilities
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, events, and holidays as required.
- This position will require flexibility of work schedule.
- Travel includes frequently driving a motor vehicle, a valid drivers license with insurance is required.
