St. Louis CITY SC is looking for a highly organized and trend-savvy storyteller to highlight our club's ambitious experiential vision in community involvement, digital innovation, food and beverage, retail, ticketing and inclusive fan engagement to a regional, national and global audience.


The Public Relations Manager will provide deliberate oversight and thought leadership for the Club's brand and partnership communications, manage influencer relationships and trends, and lead efforts to share CITY's community involvement and partnerships.

Major League Soccer's (MLS) first majority female-owned and female-lead organization has its sights set on launching for the 2023 MLS season. The 100 percent St. Louis based owners are committed to becoming an exceptional club and neighbor and a symbol for the future of our city and region.


St. Louis CITY SC will play in a brand new, state of the art soccer stadium to be built on approximately 30 acres in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Seating capacity of the open-air stadium will be approximately 22,500. Included with the build of the stadium will be the team Administrative Offices and Training Facility immediately adjacent to the stadium in Downtown West St. Louis.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop St. Louis CITY brand, corporate and community content and campaign ideas and programming related for various internal and external platforms.
  • Manage relationships with reporters, local influencers, media outlets and editorial decision makers for brand, community, and influencer communications in partnership with our sports communications objectives.
  • Develop and manage influencer programming including CITY merch seeding, relationship building, ongoing outreach and development of influencer strategies around key CITY storylines and announcements.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key talent, influencers, celebrities, and managers through ongoing communication.
  • Assist with research on industry trends, news, and updates.
  • Create and pitch brand and community centered feature ideas to local, regional, and national media.
  • Support event and speaking preparation of key stakeholders, including the creation of strategic messaging, Q&A, fact sheets and background information.
  • Vet and respond to media inquiries in a timely manner, providing background information and helping facilitate interviews, as necessary.
  • Assist with the creation of communications strategies and measurable standards of achievement.
  • Facilitate media operations for community and activation events or speaking opportunities.
  • Oversee the monitoring, tracking, and analyzing of media coverage for reports following the St. Louis CITY SC brand.
  • Assist in representing St. Louis CITY SC and accompany other Club employees at community events in the St. Louis area, when needed.
  • Manage Communications relationship with pertinent media associations.
  • Collaborate with the community, sponsorship, content and sporting departments on developing and amplifying key storylines and initiatives.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or similar field.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or similar field.
  • Proven ability to compose documents in AP style using correct grammar and spelling.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Displays a working knowledge of the local sports, entertainment, and media landscape.
  • Highly organized and proficient at managing schedules and working with talent
  • Demonstrates uncompromising judgment and discretion to protect the confidentiality/privacy of others, and company documents and records.
  • Utilizes excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creative approaches to internal and external marketing and communications platforms.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented and shows a strong sense of accountability, while exercising flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Possesses solid teamwork and relationship management skills; works effectively with all personalities to support a strong culture.
  • Ideal candidates have the ability to work a varying number of hours across varying schedules, including but not limited to non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, holidays, nights, and weekends, as necessary.
