The Public Relations Intern will be responsible for assisting the Public Relations team in developing and implementing communications and media relations strategies on a local, regional, and national level.


ABOUT TKFC LC | St. Louis CITY SC


Major League Soccer's (MLS) first majority female-owned and female-lead organization has its sights set on launching for the 2023 MLS season. The 100 percent St. Louis based owners are committed to becoming an exceptional club and neighbor and a symbol for the future of our city and region.


St. Louis CITY SC will play in a brand new, state of the art soccer stadium to be built on approximately 30 acres in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Seating capacity of the open-air stadium will be approximately 22,500. Included with the build of the stadium will be the team Administrative Offices and Training Facility immediately adjacent to the stadium in Downtown West St. Louis.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Draft as-needed media materials, emails, and documents.
  • Assist with research on industry trends, news, and updates.
  • Assist with creating and pitching feature ideas to local, regional, and national media.
  • Steer consistent and successful messaging throughout all communications, digital and marketing platforms.
  • Support interview preparation, including the creation of strategic messaging, Q&A, fact sheets and background information.
  • Assist with vetting and responding to media inquiries in a timely manner, providing background information and helping facilitate interviews, as necessary.
  • Assist with media operations for game days, speaking opportunities and events.
  • Monitor, track and analyze media coverage for reports following grassroots, experiential, and traditional communications campaigns.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intern candidates should be working towards, or recently received, an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in working in corporate communications, public relations or sports operations/management
  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations or marketing roles with specific experience in the sports, media and/or entertainment industries is a plus
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creative approaches to internal and external marketing and communications platforms
  • Must have knowledge of the local sports, entertainment and media landscape
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromising judgment and discretion to protect the confidentiality/privacy of others, and company documents and records
  • Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented and have a strong sense of accountability, while exercising flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Must have strong teamwork and relationship management skills; works effectively with all personalities to support a strong culture
  • Must have the ability to compose documents in AP style using correct grammar and spelling
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee for him or her to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday, having the ability to transport 20 pounds and being able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office
  • Must be able to work a part- or full-time schedule during regular business hours for the position and have the ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, holidays, nights, and weekends, as necessary
