JOB TITLE: Senior Director, Business Intelligence

REPORT TO: COO/Chief Commercial Officer

NYCFC is seeking a highly motivated, analytical leader to help support sales and marketing efforts and further the Club’s strategic objectives. The person in this role will be passionate about turning data into actionable insights in a fast-paced environment across different functional areas of the business. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills with competencies in creating, developing, and implementing analytical modeling, CRM processes and overall database management. This person will take an active role helping to embed KPIs into the annual business planning process and help guide organizational strategy. This role will be responsible for using data analysis to support Ticket Sales, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships and overall Business Operations. 

  • Lead team of Managers and Analysts who support decision-making across the business as well as oversee the Ticket Operations team
  • Help set the vision and define the long-term strategy and processes that will enable us to continue building a best-in-class Strategy & BI department at NYCFC
  • Guide the leadership team on setting company-wide goals that inform and support our strategy to develop and track Key Performance Indicators and other metrics for the business
  • Develop and maintain internal business reporting; provide, when necessary, analytical support when compiling reporting information
  • Evaluate and present information in a manner that will facilitate management’s understanding of the results and impact
  • Collaborate and work effectively with other departments including Ticket Sales, Corporate Partnerships, Finance/Accounting, Communications, and Marketing to further develop reliable and meaningful reporting standards
  • Train and educate internal partners on data access, reporting, and analysis tools
  • Ensure the accuracy and uniformity of information being distributed across the organization; work cooperatively with the appropriate departments to reconcile differences
  • Maintain the integrity of the information database (timeliness and accuracy of data) and work both internally and with data warehouse vendor to develop ways to facilitate and automate access to and the functionality of data in the warehouse
  • Serve as an information resource to the organization on historical data and historic policies/practices
  • Support Ticket Sales, Partnerships, and Marketing departments in creation, deployment, and analysis of customer research efforts
  • Assist the team with ad-hoc requests as needed and other duties as assigned

  • Experience in high-powered BI and data analytics teams, with 8+ years of large-scale business data analysis, with minimum of 3+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration, marketing, statistics, economics, computer science, or finance (Masters degree preferred)
  • Deep operational domain expertise in finance, sales operations, channel operations, marketing; operation and related functions, with a strong understanding of business processes and business metrics
  • Strong communications skills, especially simplifying the communication of data-heavy content
  • Strong analytical skills and business judgement
  • High-level of proficiency deriving insights from complex datasets
  • Understanding of how to organize data teams to meet the ever-growing demands of a scaling organization
  • Familiarity with reporting and data user tools (Tableau, SQL, Python, R, etc.)
  • Experience related to data management (data warehousing, architecture, and AWS)
  • Coaching ability to provide education and management around key results, strategic analysis, and complex analytical processes
  • Ability to think strategically but also roll-up sleeves and work through details directly
  • Strong commercial skills with an ability to articulate tangible ROIs/KPIs
  • Results and bottom-line oriented, yet will possess sensitivity towards people and values 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment and matrix organization
  • Must be flexible and reliable team player, both within own department and within the company as a whole
