JOB TITLE: Media Relations Gameday Associate

New York City Football Club (NYCFC) is seeking part-time seasonal Media Relations Gameday Associates who are looking to start their career in the sports industry. These individuals will assist the Communications Department to execute the media operations at NYCFC home games. The Media Relations Gameday Associate will report to the Senior Manager, Media Relations and assist with gameday responsibilities which include media information distribution, press box operations, media credentialing assistance, stat keeping, photo marshaling, setting up and assisting with the post-match press conference, and transcribing coach and players quotes. 

Individuals chosen for these positions must be available to work a majority of home games, including nights, weekends and odd hours as assigned, based on the NYCFC regular season and postseason schedule. This is an opportunity to gain valuable sports experience while working in a dynamic matchday environment. This is a paid position. 
  • Assist the Communications staff on gamedays in various roles while helping promote and aid the NYCFC brand through the media
  • Assist in press box preparation and management before and after games to ensure a fantastic matchday experience for all attending media and broadcasters
  • Operate and staff the media check-in, managing credential distribution to media and VIP/guests  
  • Work with the League to track and keep stats throughout the game to input into the database
  • Act as an on-field marshal for broadcaster and photographers
  • Gather audio from post-match player interviews from home/away lockers rooms to and transcribe for the inclusion of the post-match recaps that are distributed to media
  • Serve as a chaperone and escort to locker rooms and VIP field guests
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Media Relations in preparation for a home match such as publicity recaps, gameday notes, stats, and support at NYCFC Communications activations 
  • College graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited College or University working towards a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Sports Management, or related field
  • An understanding of media and soccer, with the desire to learn about Communications and sports media operations
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity; takes personal responsibility for accomplishing tasks in a way that positively and professionally represents the NYCFC organization
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational & time management skill
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to learn quickly, with ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Flexible schedule, with availability to work nights, weekends and odd hours as assigned, based on the NYCFC regular season and postseason schedules
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese is a plus, but not required 
  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • New York City Football Club requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment, subject to exception under applicable law
