The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is the top professional women's soccer league in the USA, with 12 teams and 300+ of the best soccer players globally. In just its 10th season, the league continues to grow exponentially: In 2022, the NWSL shattered all-time fan attendance records, more than two dozen markets expressed demand for expansion teams, valuations of teams multiplied by double digits, several new C-suite executives were hired, and the league continues to receive unprecedented interest from sponsors and media partners alike. The NWSL office is growing to meet the demands of the changing global landscape of professional women's soccer. We are looking for individuals who desire to make an impact on the future of sport in the United States and internationally.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer / Chief Legal Officer, the Vice President, Legal will provide general legal support to the NWSL. The ideal candidate is intelligent, hardworking, self-starting, reliable, organized, and can manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in New York, NY.
- Draft, prepare and review a variety of transactional documents, including sponsorships, licensing, media rights, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other agreements.
- Manage investigations related to violations of the NWSL Policy to Prevent and Eliminate Workplace Discrimination, Harassment, and Bullying and other League Rules
- Support league and team governance, ownership transactions and expansion matters.
- Support League and clubs on intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement.
- Provide strategic legal advice to business teams regarding data collection and processing and privacy compliance.
- Assist in developing league policies and procedures and interpreting applicable league rules.
- Support risk management efforts and management of insurance policies.
- Drive continuous improvements in policies and processes, including document templates; evaluate workflows and establish priorities.
- Perform other ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or corporate legal department with relevant experience.
- Strong teamwork and relationship management skills; works effectively as a liaison between the legal department and all internal clients and external partners/stakeholder.
- Ability to be flexible and resourceful in response to changing priorities and needs.
- Demonstrated willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and must be able to effectively manage communications and projects with a remote workforce.

Salary: $190,000 -$210,000/year
NWSL salaries are contingent upon candidates' qualifications, functional business needs, and market financials.
