Position Purpose: 
The Merchandise Manager will be responsible for all merchandise responsibilities, detailed below. Merchandise Manager is responsible for exceeding customer expectations and providing interaction that is reflective of a model professional sports franchise. 
Essential Functions: 
  • Manage all aspects of merchandise business, including gameday sales, online sales, purchasing of inventory, reporting, design of merchandise, merchandise marketing, and ordering of promotional merchandise 
  • Oversee embellishment of merchandise that will be sold to customers 
  • Fulfill all online orders in a timely and professional manner 
  • Manage gameday sales responsibilities including merch stand, tent setup outside of main gates, occasional 3rd tent location, stocking inventory for all merchandise locations, dealing with potential customer issues during the game, ensuring proper functioning of POS system, and tear down of tent setups 
  • Cultivate positive and energetic gameday staff environment 
  • Host annual end-of-year brick-and-mortar pop up store around Black Friday 
  • Manage relationships with various suppliers (Nike, adidas, etc.) 
  • Manage execution of key orders (on-field kits) 
  • Manage interns and gameday staff to achieve objectives 
  • Execute customer communication including calls and emails 
  • Complete office related tasks including reporting 
  • Provide feedback on designs and generate ideas for new merchandise, seek to constantly improve business line 
  • Manage all inventory for both NCFC and NC Courage 
  • Fulfill employee donation requests & employee purchasing requests 
  • Manage merchandise wholesaling (ex. Dick’s Sporting Goods) 
  • Regularly benchmark against other USL/NWSL teams 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability: 
The individual must possess the following knowledge and skills while demonstrating that he/she can perform the essential functions of this position: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university 
  • Excellent customer-service orientation 
  • Experience with Shopify a plus 
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop a plus 
  • Strength in time management, administrative ability, organization, and customer service skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and internally in a professional manner 
  • Exceptional analytical, planning and project management skills 
  • Ability to remain focused on goals and work independently 
  • Professionalism, motivation, enthusiasm and a passion for sports, specifically soccer 
  • Ability to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays 
  • Ability to adapt in a fast pace and constantly changing environment 
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs and remain standing for extended periods of time 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other computer skills 
  • Open to learning/training with a desire to be an industry leader 
  • Ability to learn and master new software programs
