Background: After winning three USL-Pro regular season championships and two postseason titles over a four-year span, Orlando City SC quickly set the standard for professional soccer clubs both on and off the field and was awarded the 21st Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise on Nov. 19, 2013. The Lions played their first two seasons in MLS at the Orlando Citrus Bowl, where they held the second-highest average attendance in MLS. In 2016, the Club launched Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Orlando City B in the United Soccer League (USL).
In March 2017, Orlando City SC unveiled its brand new, privately financed downtown stadium. With a capacity of 25,500 fans, Orlando City Stadium creates the most exciting game-day experience for fans in the country.

Position Summary: Orlando City SC is seeking a Communications intern to support the Communications
Department with its daily media relations and digital content duties for Orlando City SC, Orlando Pride and
Orlando City B. The Communications Intern plays a role in all departmental activities, including managing
day-to-day media relations, drafting press material and preparing for match day press functions.YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RECEIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT FOR THIS INTERNSHIP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist Communications Department with match day media relations responsibilities, including press box management, media credentialing and preparing post-game recaps and quote sheets.
  • Create multiple pieces of written content, such as press releases, media advisories, game notes and articles for (opportunity for published byline).
  • Assist with media and internal content needs at team training sessions.
  • Maintain Club’s current media distribution list, and assist in developing segmented lists, along with research of new potential media outlets and blogs to foster relationships.
  • Archive and track ongoing media coverage by putting together daily media clips packs.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • Applicants should be working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in journalism, public relations or other communications related field. Candidates receiving credit for participating in our internship program are preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong creative writing skills with knowledge of AP Style guidelines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop) a plus.
  • Knowledge of global soccer, Major League Soccer and the National Women’s Soccer League is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms.
  • Maintain highest level of professionalism within a pro team environment and in media work zones.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Possess an outgoing, engaging and professional personality.
