TITLE:  Athletic Trainer (Part Time)
DEPARTMENT:  Performance (Academy)
REPORTING TO:  Head of Performance
LOCATION:  St. John’s University

CAREER OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW:
NYCFC has an excellent part time opportunity for an Athletic Trainer to assist NYCFC’s Youth Academy. The Athletic Trainer (ATC) will provide injury prevention, examination, treatment, and rehabilitation for Academy teams (U12-U17). The ATC will work closely with the Performance Department, Academy Director and Head Coaches daily to ensure best in class service is provided to the Youth Academy. The role will require medical coverage for matches in New York, with potential for out of state travel. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working with youth sports teams and has a flexible work schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
  •  The ATC will work in collaboration with the Head of Performance to coordinate care and rehabilitation 
  • Match day preparation and ensuring cleanliness of medical equipment
  • Provide injury prevention, examination, treatment, and rehabilitation for Academy teams (U12-U17)
  • Share communication with parents, coaching staff and performance department regarding any care administered during coverage

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of rehab for musculoskeletal related injuries
  • Carry out COVID protocols and other protocols set by the Performance Department
  • Documentation of injuries and illness in Performance Department EMR
  • Experience in soccer at a youth level

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s in athletic training
  • Master’s Degree in related health care field preferred
  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist issued by NSCA highly preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS:
  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • NATABOC certification
  • NYS certification
  • CPR/AED for Health Care Provider
  • Must be able to work games scheduled, which may be at night and on weekends and holidays
  • Flexible work schedule; ability to work several hours for some matches and full days for others
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Extended periods of standing and sitting throughout matches
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times   
  • Ability to travel for business purposes
