New York City Football Club (NYCFC) was announced as the 20th Major League Soccer franchise in May 2013. The club kicked off their inaugural season on March 15, 2015 at Yankee Stadium. JOB SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of the role is to plan and deliver the athlete development program to NYCFC Academy players. This role will focus on the ‘Development Phase’ teams within the Academy; U12, U13 and U14.  Athletic development is a fundamental component of young players’ long-term progress and is therefore crucial to delivering sustainable success at the New York City Football Club Academy.
The role will also include working with the clubs Lead Performance Coach with the delivery of best practice support to academy players, including the administration of the nutrition, recovery, daily monitoring and fitness testing programs, among other tasks.
The role does not involve supervision of any staff or management of a budget, but will involve the management of sport science research projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate physical development sessions with designated age groups designed to enhance the athletic abilities of the young players;
  • Collaborate with other NYCFC Performance Coaches with the development and implementation of the academy Sport Science philosophy that will integrate into the vision and structure of the club;
  • Assist with the monitoring and assessment of young player’s physical development.  This will include the management of data collection, analysis, reporting and providing feedback to coaches, parents and players;
  • Assist with the practical implementation of appropriate nutrition and hydration strategies for young players;
  • Apply an interdisciplinary approach that includes close links to all areas of the Academy, for example working closely with the Academy medical team to enhance the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compliance with Club policies;
  • Attend all home and away matches for Development Phase teams;
  • Compliance with the Club’s health and safety procedures;
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected;
  • To maintain professional conduct at all times

  • Academy medicine, performance analysis, education, recruitment and operations teams

REQUIREMENTS
  • Certified Athletic Trainer;
  • Ability to work nights/weekends;
  • Certified S&C coach;
  • History of working with youth sports;
  • Spanish speaker (preferred, not mandatory)
