Player Operations: Soccer - Coach
The New York Red Bulls are one of 26 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

The Red Bulls Youth Program is a multi-layered system that provides professional support at all levels of the game. Each level of the player development pyramid has been structured to provide extensive support to players, coaches and youth soccer organizations. Within the local community, programs are offered for players of all ages and abilities. For players with outstanding ability, there is an opportunity to progress to the academy level and ultimately, to the Red Bulls First Team.

The primary responsibility of the Regional Manager includes creating and executing sales plans, regional coaching staff management, forecasting and reporting, budget development, product development and enforcing policies and procedures. The position will require the daily management of existing club partners along with a focus on the growth of the territory and market presence. Candidates should have a strong youth coaching and business background, with a proven experience in developing and administrating youth player development programs and a detailed knowledge of the local youth soccer landscape.  A candidate that is based in Northern NJ or willing to relocate to the region is required.

  •  Develop an annual sales and operating budget for the region, prepare presentations, proposal documents, responses to RFPs, and legal contracts for all partners and prospects.
  •  Develop sales strategies and plans to achieve regional revenue attainment and territory growth.
  •  Prepare and report on annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  •  Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports using the company’s standardized tracking and reporting tools.
  •  Develop a strong market presence within the territory through the sale and promotion of youth training programs to clubs and organizations.
  •  Use networking events, external appointments, territory prospecting and outbound sales calls to maximize revenue by selling Training Programs, Camps, Clinics and Coach Education services.  The role requires conducting a significant number of external based meetings and events.
  •  Secure partners to set up grassroots community outreach programs, this includes Youth Soccer Festivals, Urban Soccer Initiatives and Believe Programs.
  •  Carefully manage costs by setting up programs that operate efficiently.
  •  Design and structure training programs that meet the development needs of players and coaches within each club program through ongoing program analysis and programs reviews.
  •  Primary point of contact for daily management and customer care of partner clubs. This includes regular attendance at board and coach’s meetings, outbound calls, contract and invoice management, program scheduling, program development, needs analysis and effective scheduling trainers. 
  •  Perform onsite facility inspections to ensure host locations are risk management compliant.  Where required, liaise with the department of health to ensure all programs operate within required regulations. Additionally, the Regional Manager will be the initial point person for player welfare parent communication. 
  •  Work with Coaching Education and Operations team to forecast required seasonal coaching staff, create seasonal training schedules, assist in the requirement of coaches for the territory and help in the general oversight of the daily management of youth coaching staff, including attending weekly coaches’ meetings and performing mid and year end coaching staff reviews.
  •  Work with Ticket Sales department to introduce partner clubs and their members to youth member ticket packages. 
  •  Coordinate with the youth marketing team to support marketing initiatives that help maximize attendance, revenue and awareness of all camp and clinic programs. This includes social media and e-marketing campaigns, working with partner clubs to distribute flyers and e-blast to their membership and identify various grassroots events that could help promote the brand. 
  •  Excellent leadership skills to lead a team of Regional Coordinators and club trainers to achieve high quality standards of operation, professional development, and seasonal and annual objectives.
  •  Demonstrate strong management ability to complete key tasks thoroughly and timely.
  •  Exceptional presentation skills to present Red Bulls Player Development and Programs, lead key business-related discussions both internally and with youth clubs.
o Ability to contribute to the overall development of the Youth Training Programs infrastructure, programs, product and curriculum. 
  •  Where required, perform various coaching duties within the territory, this may include covering schedule training sessions, delivering demonstration training sessions and conducting coach education courses.

  •  Bachelor’s degree, preferred in sports management field
  •  Preferred USSF C License, United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma or International Equivalent 
  •  Required (3) years’ youth coaching experience 
  •  Required (3) years’ business/sales experience in youth soccer 
  •  In-depth understanding of the youth soccer industry and structure  
  •  Strong communicator and proven ability to deliver presentations to large audience
  •  Experience in developing and designing youth soccer programs for players and coaches 
  •  Individual must be able to manage multiple roles, priorities and responsibilities simultaneously
  •  Proficiency with all Microsoft word applications
  •  Excellent administrative skills 
  •  Excellent writing skills
  •  Collaborative management style – advocate of team concepts
  •  Must have strong initiative and work ethic 
  •  Be able to function in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  •  Be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
