Player Operations: Strength and Conditioning
The New York Red Bulls are one of 24 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

This position requires a dynamic, self-motivated, organized, energetic and creative strength and conditioning coach with a working experience in either collegiate, soccer academy, minor league and/or professional sports. This position represents one of the key functions within the New York Red Bulls franchise structure, to allow players to develop to their top conditioning and prepare them for the physical requirements of professional soccer. This position is full-time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Required to perform the job)
  • Develop and implement training programs to develop players’ performance and reduce injuries at the academy level
  • Monitor fitness and fatigue of the Academy teams using science-based approach
  • Test players’ physical performance
  • Create benchmark for players at each age group
  • Organize strength and fitness training sessions with players coming back from injury
  • Be integrated to first team and second team strength and conditioning coaches to understand the needs of a New York Red Bull player per position

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Possess an excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Available to work varying schedules, weekends
  • Strong communication skills, detail-oriented and have the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-organized, enthusiastic and focused goal-setter committed to the culture developed by the New York Red Bulls and Major League Soccer

  • Bachelor’s in Exercise Science related field
  • CSCS (NSCA) or SCCC (CSCCa) Certification
  •  Minimum two years’ experience coaching athletes in strength and conditioning

  • Master’s in Exercise Science related field
  • Experience leading sport science initiatives such as GPS, heart rate monitoring, RPEs etc.
  • Five years’ experience coaching athletes in strength and conditioning

  • Candidate should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a strength and conditioning coach in a college, academy or professional setting.

  • Constantly remain upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Constantly move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Frequently raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to-position; requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Constantly express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. 
  • Constantly perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.

Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.
