Communications/Community Relations: Media Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Manager of Communications and Public Relations will assist the Vice President of Communications in all publicity and communications efforts for the Club. This position has two major responsibilities:  
· First, the Manager of Communications and Public Relations will primarily service non-sports media and manage the image of the Club
· Second, the Manager of Communications and Public Relations will manage and execute all external corporate communications 

The Manager of Communications and Public Relations will report to the VP of Communications.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and oversee all aspects of communications planning including developing key messages and talking points; identifying key target audiences and channels (traditional and new media) and then managing implementation of plans for non-sport needs
  • Develop media strategy, evaluate all non-sport media requests, oversee media events and develop new media partnerships, interviews, etc.
  • Identify unique and interesting story angles, and actively pursue media opportunities to expand the profile of the Club and its members
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Sports Communications and Public Relations, the Broadcast and the Digital teams to create new story ideas for the Club’s channels
  • Serve as liaison between local, national and in-house media and Nashville SC staff members 
  • Coordinate and execute local and national interview requests and provide media training to players and staff prior to every interview
  • Supervise all open locker room sessions throughout the week, including training and post-game
  • Assist with all game day responsibilities, both at home and away matches 
  • Manage match-day part-time staff and volunteers
  • Partner with: 
-   Corporate Partners and Partnership Marketing to elevate and expand the Club’s reach and message penetration while finding creative opportunities to elevate our partnerships
-   HR to develop all internal communications plans, key messaging and employee experiences to drive culture as needed
-   Community Engagement to create communications plans around our core belief and activities
  • Support the Vice President of Communications in:
-   All aspects of the Club’s Communications department as needed
-   The creation and execution of media training sessions 
-   Crisis communications planning and execution
-   The development of releases and statements in the best interest of the organization
-   The setup and execution of media days
-   Press conferences and team events 
  • Invest in the professional development and career growth of the department’s interns and other staff as assigned 
 
REQUIRED COMPETENCY AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years’ relevant progressive experience in non-sport media, brand, agency or corporate communications 
  • Passion: Finding unique storylines that connect the Club with audiences outside of sports
  • Media focus: A real passion for serving media 
  • Digitally savvy: Proficient in Adobe InDesign, and new media trends
  • Communication: Outstanding written, editing and communications skills
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Developing constructive and collaborative relationships with media, other departments, technical staff and players 
  • Organization: Establishing priorities, defining action and setting up a workflow to achieve goals while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced multi-task setting environment
  • Analysis and reporting: Strong media monitoring, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to evaluate data and information to influence media plans and solutions while showcasing results 
  • Availability: Ability to work long hours and weekends
