POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance, and ongoing projects within the Stadium Production and AV department at Banc of California Stadium. This position is also required to provide AV coverage for a wide variety of events at Banc of California Stadium, including the ability to independently setup, operate, and strike prosumer A/V equipment.  Additionally, this position coordinates closely with Head Broadcast & AV Engineer to assist with technical implementation, repairs, and maintenance of complex broadcast equipment, including control room, HD cameras, audio systems, IPTV, video displays, and large-format LED displays.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Strong knowledge of prosumer audio and video equipment.  Able to independently set up, operate, and strike devices necessary to successfully produce a wide variety of stadium events.  Deploy and strike video and audio cables pre and post events.  
  • Perform daily repairs and maintenance to stadium AV systems, equipment, and components.
  • Day-to-day quality control AV systems throughout the stadium, including front of house and back of house audio levels, IPTV system, LED displays, etc.
  • Maintain system functionality of stadium control room.
  • Clean and maintain fiber optic pathways in multiple patch rooms.
  • Install, maintain, modify, operate and support complex broadcast systems and A/V equipment at Banc of California Stadium.
  • Understanding of video and audio playback systems, codecs, and digital formatting.
  • Manage, log, and track all Stadium AV inventory.  
  • Keep control room, storage spaces, patch rooms, media panels, and amp rooms clean and organized.
  • Load-in and strike large format LED displays before and after concert events at Banc of California Stadium.
  • Operate and maintain stadium IPTV system for stadium events.
  • Process and track RMAs; ship items for repair; ensure timely return of products.
  • Assist with broadcast truck park and power, operations requests, etc.  Monitor and quality control load in and load out.  Ensure Banc of California Stadium broadcast and operations policies and standards are upheld and adhered to. Serve as liaison between Stadium AV department and broadcasters as assigned.
  • Interface with visiting production crews, Technical Managers, Production Managers, Gameday and Event Producers, and clients for concerts and other third-party stadium events.
  • Assist with supervising and scheduling part-time and contracted crew required for games and events as needed.  
  • Assists with media ingestion, conversion, and display/distribution as required for games and events.
  • Have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of audio and video signal flow.  
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. Able to assess technical challenges and systematically work to identify solutions in an efficient manner.
  • Works well under pressure. Able to remain calm and efficient in fast-paced, live event environments.
  • Basic understanding of HD/4K/UHD broadcast technology, IP routing and IP 2110/SMPTE multicast architecture, signal flow systems (maintenance & design), fiber optic transmission, maintenance, and repair, RF systems, distributed audio systems (including front-of-house, back-of-house, and portable), and large-scale LED display technology.
  • Handle emergency repairs during live events. Provide proactive maintenance support for all systems to minimize negative impact during games and scheduled events.
  • Able to read and understand technical materials, including instruction/repair manuals, service contracts, agreements, warranty-related materials, CAD diagrams, blueprints, etc.
  • Assist Head Broadcast & AV Engineer with maintaining software updates on all audio and video equipment, including but not limited to: Evertz video routing systems, Ross Switcher/XPression, Audio Architect, Allen-Heath, communication systems (including RTS, Clear Comm, Sure, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical degree in video/broadcast engineering, digital media production, broadcast operations, or other related disciplines preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in video and broadcast production or sports/venue production & engineering.
  • Have fundamental understanding of HD/4K/UHD broadcast technology, IP routing and IP 2110/SMPTE multicast architecture, signal flow systems (maintenance & design), fiber optic transmission, maintenance, and repair, RF systems, distributed audio systems (including front-of-house, back-of-house, and portable), and large-scale LED display technology.
  • General knowledge of - and some experience with - typical control room technology and equipment, including but not limited to: multiviewers, replay systems, switchers, CG equipment, HD cameras (including RF, stationary & PTZ), camera shading & remote/robotic operation, communication systems, digital video & graphic playback, digital projectors, audio systems (including microphones, amplifiers, speakers, monitors, etc.).

  • Flexible schedule. Must be able to work a high percentage of stadium events.  Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular/extended hours in addition to regular business hours as dictated by the ever-changing stadium event schedule.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands/arms, lift/move 50+ pounds, climb stairs/ladders, etc. for multiple hours and with limited assistance.
