The Academic Coordinator will directly manage & execute all aspects of academic programming for athletes on all academy teams (U13, U14, U15 & U17), second team, and first team. Aspects include but are not limited to directing the culture of the classroom, coordinating academic efforts and accountability systems with players, staff, and parents, managing college preparedness, assisting players in academic transitions, modeling Club core values, and engaging in safeguarding efforts for student-athletes.
- Provide academic counseling and guidance to students, including identifying students at risk of not meeting minimum academic standards
- Oversee the progress of student-athletes academically, including monitoring their progress toward a diploma, discussing issues with them, referring them to tutoring services, etc.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure that they are meeting eligibility requirements for competition
- Evaluate students’ academic performance in order to identify potential academic problems or issues that may affect their academic success
- Lead the onboarding of new students into the u17 program
- Initiate the development, implementation, and tracking of an academic plan to ensure that students meet NCAA eligibility requirements and amateur status
- Communicate with Academy staff members, coaches, parents, and other Club staff members to ensure that academic requirements are being met
- Work with broader Academy staff to plan events such as study hours or tutoring sessions during team travel
- Manage the U17 classroom environment, culture, norms, expectations, etc.
- Coordinate with parents to keep connected regarding academic efforts and needs of players
- Collaborate with PASS staff to create and deliver components of the Academy’s Life Skills and College Readiness curriculum
- Focus on individuals and groups of students on incorporating the Club’s core values into their academic efforts and performance
- Report/refer any students exhibiting signs and symptoms of mental health challenges to PASS colleagues
- Manage tutoring partnerships, grant spending, and classroom budget
- Provide direct tutoring services to players in a classroom setting, according to the candidate’s qualifications
- Coordinate and execute College Signing and Senior’s Night
- Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the PASS Manager
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, Masters of Education or similar degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of NCAA system and college recruitment process
- Classroom management experience preferred
- Valid state teaching licensure preferred (we accept current out-of-state teaching licenses)
- Academic advising experience with student-athletes is preferred
