Financial Analyst, Player Finance

Accounting and Finance: Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/Purchasing

The Financial Analyst will support management of the MLS player budget and work closely with Player Relations on all financial matters related to player transactions.


  • Act as a liaison between Finance and Player Relations.
  • Support preparation of the player budget.
  • Review of all player expenses as it relates to the Club Salary Budgets.
  • Review of all player revenues as it relates to outgoing transfers and loans.
  • Support Accounting during monthly close and settlement process, including review of player related items.
  • Work with Player Relation during year-end review of player compensation, including performance bonuses.
  • Support preparation of the player projection for the cash flow statement.
  • Support preparation of presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Support Senior Director, Player Finance on projects and ad hoc analysis and reporting.


  • Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.


Desired Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (or similar ERPs).
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer.

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $65,000 – 74,000, based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
