Position Summary 
The USA Triathlon (USAT) Strategy and Analytics internship is a unique and exciting opportunity to help learn and improve the internal workings of the Data division of a National Governing Body (NGB). The Strategy and Analytic intern works directly with the Strategy and Data team to provide assistance on the key projects that help USA Triathlon use its data to guide the organization. The USAT intern will be afforded the opportunity to develop and apply skills in various areas including but not limited to Tableau, Business Intelligence, using data to make decisions and other key skills with data.
General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with day to day activities relating to USA Triathlon’s data analytics needs
  • Perform research around current trends in analytics, pricing, sponsorship and other key business areas
  • Analyze data via Excel, Tableau and R as needed to support USA Triathlon initiatives
  • Help create reports and presentations as needed
Key Project: 
  • Assist in the build of new reports in a during a systems and data location transfer
  • Build out dashboards for executive leadership team members
  • Build out key reporting needs for the USA Triathlon Foundation to help guide their business
  • Educational Requirements: Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s degree program or a recent graduate
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Proficient in basic data analytics, experience with Tableau is preferred but NOT required 
  • Passion for sport and the ideals of the Olympic Movement
  • Familiarity with the sport of triathlon helpful but is NOT required
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Anticipated Work Schedule and Other Job Specifications:
  • Anticipated duration: March-August
  • Location: Remote
  • Intern status: Part time hours per week: 10-20 hours/week (20 preferred, but can work with your schedule! Some weeks will be lighter and others will be busier)
  • Pay status: Unpaid
  • Work schedule: Variable based on student schedule
