USA Cycling is the national governing body for the sport of cycling and oversees the disciplines of road, track, mountain bike, cyclocross and BMX. With a mission to develop the sport of cycling in the United States and to achieve sustained international racing success, USA Cycling supports cyclists at all levels, from those just beginning in the sport and participating in fun rides to seasoned professionals. The organization not only identifies, develops, and selects cyclists to represent the United States in international competition, but also supports amateur bike racing through grassroots development programs and the provision of critical infrastructure to run organized racing. The Event Services Education Manager develops and collects content, implements and manages a nationwide Event Organizer Certification program for all cycling disciplines (road, track, mountain bike, cyclocross and BMX) and provides support to the USA Cycling Event Organizer Community. The position will be based in our Colorado Springs headquarters and will report to the Director of Event Services. 

The Event Services Education Manager will be responsible for the following: 
  • Plan and implement event organizer summits held throughout the country. 
  • Create, edit and administer resource manuals, exams and related course documents on USA Cycling’s Learning Management System.
  • Develop educational course materials and curriculum for event organizers and race directors, working to build a robust and valued program.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop a winning value proposition to retain and grow the race director community.
  • Craft creative email campaigns and website content in collaboration with Marketing/Communications department to engage on a greater level within the race director community.
  • Organize, schedule and administer seminars and webinars to provide ongoing training and communication to event organizers.
  • Identify venues and oversee logistics for regionally based certification clinics. 
  • Manage the budget and expense reporting for the Event Organizer Certification Program.
  • Travel to and provide onsite support to the National Events Managers at National Championship events. 
  • Cross-functional collaboration across multiple departments to ensure job effectiveness.
  • Keep abreast of news and activity within the cycling community and relay relevant items to USA Cycling’s Event Organizer community.  
  • Perform these above and other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by potential candidates to successfully perform the essential functions of the role. 
  • Ability to work in conditions with occasional exposure to extreme weather such as high and low temperatures and variable precipitation when working at events.
  • Visual capabilities for both long and short distance measurement at events. 
  • Frequently communicate with staff and participants and must be able to exchange accurate information in event situations.
  • Dolly and lift-assist equipment. Incumbent may occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs. 
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel along with reaching with hands and arms.

    Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (Sports Management or Education is a plus!) or equivalent work experience
 
Experience 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience creating educational course content, managing events or related work experience. 
 
Software Utilized
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), 
 
Travel
  • 15-20 % 
  • Frequent air and ground travel will be required.
