Associate Program:
U.S. Soccer internships, referred to as Associates, are full-time, 5-6 month paid opportunities making an impact in the world of soccer. Associate positions are offered on a seasonal cadence and are offered in a number of departments across the Federation. We are recruiting for an Accounting Associate for the upcoming Spring Season only with a start date of January 6, 2020 through the end date of July 12, 2020.  

Primary Duties:
The ideal candidate is someone with an educational background in accounting or finance and is looking to gain experience in the accounting field and/or has one year of related experience. The position’s responsibilities include:
  • Performs routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger 
  • Posts journal entries, creates customer invoices, verifies vendor bills, and processes checks 
  • Completes the International Game Closeout process including ticket report reconciliations 
  • Assists with U.S. Men’s National Team and U.S. Women’s National Team game closeouts, including ticket revenue analysis, venue financials and overall financial performance 
  • Helps prepare various accounting statements and financial reports 
  • Completes moderately complex calculations, formulas and functions such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables in Microsoft Excel  
  • Reconciles accounts and bank statement 
  • Provide ad hoc front desk reception coverage support  
  • Other duties and projects as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required 
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles 
  • Proficient with spreadsheets, excel and other software tools  
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure and deadlines 
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication combined with a professional demeanor 

Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous internship or work experience in business, accounting or finance role(s)   
  • Involvement in business, finance or accounting related organizations  
  • Passion for soccer is a plus
