POSITION SUMMARY:  The USMS Summer Intern (full time paid position from May/June to August)- Marketing will gain a wide range of experience in the USMS Marketing, Business Development and Communications Departments.  Responsibilities will vary based on need but will include support for sponsorship deliverables and activation, social media coordination, web content updates, digital advertising, curating image and video libraries, and data analysis and facilitation of electronic communication content.  This position will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications but will have assignments from all members of the Marketing and Communications Departments.  
  • Assist the Marketing Department (which consists of Marketing, Business Development, Communications and Publications) with day-to-day activities.
  • Help with research on social media, digital marketing and content trends and development of new initiatives.
  • Help with transition to new CMS (content management system). 
  • Facilitate the sponsorship deliverables. 
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of organizational reporting and data analysis projects.
  • Assist with management and curation of the photo and video library.
  • Create digital advertising campaigns. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Prior experience in sports marketing, advertising or athletic department preferred.  
  • Desire to gain experience with a National Governing Body or in the fitness industry a National Governing Body.
  • Swimming experience or knowledge a plus.   
  • Ability to work on multiple projects congruently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  The ability to interact effectively and in a professional, diplomatic, and mature manner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
