Overview:
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the governing body of professional rodeo, seeks an experienced sponsorship sales executive to continue to build on its explosive growth, strengthen current partnership relationships, meet organizational goals and help implement additional revenue opportunities at marquee events in the sport of professional rodeo. Key elements for this VP of Business Development to succeed would include the ability to turn a number of incoming leads into deals, understand our inventory, and pull in interested organizations into a bigger role with our cowboys. We're looking for someone who has successfully negotiated six-figure sports events, sponsorship, branding, licensing, client hospitality and media deals. Someone who thinks innovatively and loves the role of putting partnerships together coupled with thoughtful planning. We welcome local sponsorship salespeople we can turn into national sellers, too.
Job Summary:
The Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for revenue generation through sponsorships, advertising sales, event activation, and VIP hospitality. The position will directly manage use, growth, and direction of the PRCA Brand. Responsible for managing a team to accomplish sales goals to increase revenue for the PRCA and additional marquee events.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for selling partnerships and sponsorships, for both new and renewal deals by leveraging PRCA’s live event platform to sell sponsorship and sales programs to new and existing clients.
- Create select sponsor-related packages and manage new business lead-generating projects.
- Develop scalable customized ideas for brands across multiple platforms such as video, digital, mobile, social, and experiential. Identify creative new streams of sponsorship revenue and strategically cultivate relationships to secure deals.
- Responsible for generating advertising and sponsorship revenue for sales plans which are scalable for regional, national, and international programs.
- Responsible for selling integrated partnership for PRCA’s owned & operated national exposure channels: Branded Content, Promotions, On-site Event Activation and Consumer engagement for ProRodeo.com, Social Channels, and publications.
- Propose and plan sponsor activations and other sponsor-related events. This includes working with current and prospective sponsors to develop new plans for activation year-round, as well as during all events. Support and development of complex-targeting media and sponsorship plans to address clients’ strategic objectives and meet the Organization’s needs.
- Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, orienting, planning, directing work, performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Negotiates and finalizes the contractual process.
- Develops and maintains professional relationship with sponsors, keeping them engaged and informed about the rodeo, and working with them to expand their relationship with rodeo. Responsible for development of the annual sponsor summit content to deliver value to sponsors.
- Manages demographic and data-based platforms to provide reports and insight to executive team and PRCA committees.
- Manages all sales projects per deadlines.
- May perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8+ years relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with rodeo or other sports related field preferred.
- Experience with large events including multiple venues, ticket sales, underwriters, and sponsors, preferred.
- Experience with CRM platforms and client reports.
- Strong customer service and sales skills for generating leads.
- Advanced presentation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building meaning relationships with new and existing clients.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial documents. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain technical skills and knowledge of industry.
- Ability to travel and work occasional events on non-traditional days and hours.
Work Environment:
Works in an office environment and occasionally travels for events, sponsor meetings and conventions out of state.
Physical Demands:
Employees in this position are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear in person and by telephone, use hands to finger, handle, feel, operate standard office equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Employees are occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
