The Professional Bull Riders is currently seeking a highly talented Director of Social Media who will help conceive and bring to life imaginative content and disruptive ideas designed to grow and engage targeted audiences across social and digital platforms on behalf of the PBR. 

A love of social media, sports, entertainment and the ability to excite fans through content across all digital formats is essential. This individual must have a passion for and comprehensive understanding of bull riding and the Western Lifestyle space. The successful candidate will have experience at a professional sports or news organization, superior judgment, and be obsessed with figuring out what people are sharing, liking, recommending, and talking about online. 

The position requires the individual to oversee, forecast and implement all strategy for PBR’s multiple platforms, to work with partners and vendors, and to generate brand, athlete and event-based content strategies to meet company objectives

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to setting overall social and digital media strategy
    • Lead tactical programming and distribution for PBR Social Media channels
  • Effectively identify, curate and package made-for-social stories using data and judgement for distribution on PBR platforms – including PBR.com and PBR social channels
  • Work with a team of content creators – programmers and social producers – to produce original social and digital content
  • Assist in the development of the voice and tone for major projects including the launch of new marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns, etc.
  • Evaluate and interpret performance analytics for the purposes of designing fan and follower growth strategies and engagement level improvements
  • Create content, utilizing all formats, in the defined voice and tone of each social media account, across all platforms, including emerging platforms
  • Embrace new and innovative ways to tell news stories across PBR’s social and digital channels
  • Monitor best practices and trends in organic and branded social media content
  • Manage Paid Digital Live Event Marketing efforts, and act as liaison between Digital Media, and Consumer Insights / Product to align our existing funnels of acquisition 
    • Including management of paid media agency, strategy implementation and reporting
    • Optimize and grow upper consumer funnel, and optimize lower funnel
  • Identify new and innovative ways to impact PBR’s business objectives 
    • Grow PBR as a sport and brand 
    • Build loyalty and fan avidity 
    • Drive revenue 

Requirements:
  • Deep understanding of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, etc., and why content on those platforms became popular
  • Experience with real-time engagement and analytics tools – especially Crowdtangle
  • Demonstrated experience in developing cutting edge creative campaigns, with an emphasis on innovation, and writing premium quality content
    • Strong visual eye with regard to the creation of graphics and selection of images for social publishing
  • Creative and strategic in nature with the ability to think outside the box and articulate “big ideas”
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation and communication skills 
  • Mentors junior-level employees across offices/departments to positively impact their career growth

Years of Experience: 
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • B.A. /B.S. Marketing, Economics, Business, Journalism, Public Relations
  • Sports or Live Event Marketing - Preferred

Working Conditions: 
  • Normal business hours, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work
  • Some travel to events may be required
