The New England Free Jacks are greater Boston’s explosive and excitable professional rugby team competing in Major League Rugby (MLR), the premier North American professional competition, representing all the greatness of the six New England states on and off the field.
 
As we gear up for the start of our 2023 season, we’re looking for motivated individuals seeking to gain experience in the Social Media and Content Creation space to assist in the operation of the Free Jacks’ social platforms. 
 
You will report directly to the Head of Digital Content, and work alongside Rugby Operations, Marketing, and Sponsorship. This opportunity is perfect for anyone who is looking for hands-on experience in the world of professional sports media, providing exposure to aspects from social media coordination to content production. 
 
This position is a 6-month commitment from January 1st to June 30th. Multiple part-time positions are available depending on experience and time commitment. 
 
All candidates must be able to work most, if not all, Free Jacks home matches on weekends in Quincy, MA. Hours are dependent on event schedule, and applicants must be prepared to work weekends and evenings when required. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Attend and digitally activate company events (i.e. Free Jacks matches, community events, concerts, etc.) and provide social media coverage in the form of recorded video, photos, and interviews to be posted on our platforms. 
  • Keep track of relevant digital trends and suggest how we can implement them into our content. 
  • Assist in the creation of content and editing graphic templates. 
  • Carry out the posting of digital content across our social platforms (including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Youtube, LinkedIn) in accordance with  the company’s marketing calendar and direction from the department heads when required. 

Requirements:
  • Pursuing a degree in Media, Marketing, or a similar field
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Experience with photo and video editing software, preferably Adobe Suite 
  • A high-resolution camera. Smartphones are acceptable
  • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Dedication to staying informed on all the trends across digital marketing with an emphasis on social media tools and platforms
  • Ability to travel to and attend company events
