Communications/Community Relations: Communications Department Management

The Vice President, Communications role is instrumental to the growth of our entire integrated Marketing Communications team. We are searching for an entrepreneurial, high-performing communications leader to join our championship team. The right candidate will have the experience, relationships and Rolodex to move the needle for rEvolution as a company and rEvolution’s client partners. A core responsibility is working with the leadership of the Integrated Client Services team on finding innovative ways to deliver integrated communications solutions for our clients, as well as creating new PR opportunities with prospects. The successful candidate must have a track record of PR/communications leadership, as well as both conceptualizing and delivering exceptional earned media and integrated communications campaigns on behalf of brands, sports teams, or leagues. Responsibilities:
  • Create and lead integrated communication strategies that include traditional PR and media relations, while also spanning brand consulting, social media, and social influencer campaigns
  • Deliver earned media wins that generate high-profile awareness across a variety of traditional media, sports, and other high-profile news platforms
  • Maintain and build working relationships with members of press and trade community, especially across the sports, lifestyle, and entertainment verticals
  • Conceptualize, write, and proactively pitch on behalf of clients
  • Copy write and distribute critical public relations materials including communications strategies, news releases, media alerts, talking points, CRM copy, and other PR materials as needed
  • Lead media outreach around key experiential activities, e.g., launch events, tour promotions, event promotions, grand openings, etc. 
  • Build and maintain media databases (including freelancer and/or PR contractor networks)
  • Oversee PR administrative duties, including clip tracking, clip reporting, etc., as needed
  • Assist on strategy and copywriting for communications and PR business development efforts including serving as a member of the pitch team as needed

Qualifications:
  • College degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of PR experience preferred, preferably with a consumer brand, team, or PR/sports marketing agency.
  • Exceptional market presence with major media outlets, relevant journalists, and influencers
  • Experience with Cision and MailChimp (or another broadcast email/database) preferred, as well as familiarity with social media management, social listening tools, podcasting, video, and experience with Adobe Premiere
  • Ability to communicate effectively and ability to lead and motivate a growing team
  • Interest in sports business a must
  • Superb pitching, writing, and editing skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to develop communication strategies, story ideas and juggle multiple angles/clients/projects at once
  • Leadership, organizational, editing, and time management skills
