Sports Business Journal is a globally recognized brand and the go-to news and network source for thousands of sports business professionals. Producing breaking content every day, hosting over 20 events a year, and offering excellent content to thousands of subscribers, the task of assisting our clients and subscribers is an important one.


Sports Business Journal is seeking a highly organized Sales Manager who is responsible for coaching, motivating, and growing new and renewable subscription revenue and ensuring AEs have the resources to exceed goal.


This position is responsible for successfully leading and managing an effective sales team and support staff to reach goals and should seek out and implement strategies to target new customers and take advantage of sales and revenue opportunities. You will serve as the primary resource for problem-solving and provide the day-to-day coaching service necessary for Account Executives to manage their accounts and exceed their sales goals. You will provide ongoing monitoring and feedback with a focus on improving performance. Create and implement effective sales and service incentive programs & raise the entire team’s performance. This position will also be responsible for mentoring, training, and performance improvement.



Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for KPIs, holding team accountable to sales goals, activity need to hit those goals, and maintaining world class customer service of all subscribers
  • Coach, mentor and perform formal reviews and informal feedback sessions
  • Build strong teamwork and camaraderie between the team and the rest of Leaders Group
  • Ensure quality standards are followed throughout all sales and service channels to ensure accurate data and reporting
  • Perform weekly standup meetings to review updates and performance to goal
  • Organize training and ensure all new hires and existing teammates have proper resources and consistent training
  • Responsible for recruiting new staff members and setting training agendas
  • Conduct sales incentive contests, with measurable goals and documented outcomes
  • Work closely with customer service and fulfillment to streamline workflows, communication, and teamwork
  • Review and approve all Sales AE commissions and timecards
  • Keep management informed on KPIs and action items
  • Partner with marketing to drive e-commerce sales and renewals
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to take up new initiatives quickly, meet deadlines, deliver results and work under pressure
  • Ability to make informed decisions appropriate to position level
  • High sense of urgency with ability to identify and communicate issues quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - this position will be communicating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong work ethic; clear dedication to product and personal work quality
  • A collaborative player who can also thrive independently and maintain the desire to learn
  • Good natured and flexible
