Communications/Community Relations: Corporate Communications
Summary of Position: 
The USA Swimming Communications Intern is a key member of the organization’s Commercial division and plays an important role in the promotion of the National Governing Body, its National Team athletes, and the sport of swimming through a number of owned communications channels. The selected candidate will have extensive writing experience, as well as knowledge of media and public relations, digital and social media, and more. 
 
Internship Period: April/May – July/August 2022 (3 or 4 months)
 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist with day-to-day Communications division responsibilities.
  • Develop content for USA Swimming’s website and social media channels.
  • Assist with updating USA Swimming’s social media outlets.
  • Conduct local media outreach for key events. 
  • Compile and update event media guides and athlete bios.
  • Compile event specific and weekly media clip reports. 
  • Compile and edit various constituent e-newsletters. 
  • Assist with USA Swimming’s organizational communications efforts. 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
 
Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at the junior or senior level status or higher, or recent college graduate
  • Degree concentration in public relations, business, or communications preferred
  • Willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Passion for sport and the ideals of the Olympic Movement
  • Sport experience preferred (i.e., active in competitive/intramural sports) 
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA 
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills 
 
Salary & Benefits:
  • Salary range for this position is $15.00 / hour
  • Benefits available include:
o   Medical
