Position Description 

U.S. Soccer is seeking a Director of Partnership Marketing to join our industry-leading team and help drive the growth of soccer in the United States. This individual will be a leader within U.S. Soccer’s growing commercial team and an important driver in the relationship between the Federation and its largest strategic partner, NIKE. The Director will develop a deep understanding of U.S. Soccer’s commercial and sporting business functions and lead the execution of programming around the key pillars of the NIKE x USSF partnership: 
  • Sport of the Future: Driving cultural relevancy off the field via content, art and lifestyle 
  • USA Way: Eliminating barriers to entry and impacting the grassroots eco-system at scale
  • Better Planet: Showcase sustainability efforts while supporting industry-leading product innovation
  • Global Impact Project: Elevating the profile of the Women’s game on the global stage

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities 

This individual will be a key contributor on a team 100% focused on growth and retention of current U.S. Soccer partnerships. Specifically, they will be dedicated to collaboratively development and implement strategies that deliver value to NIKE while also positively impacting the sport of soccer in the United States and globally. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Owning day-to-day relationships: directly drive and maintain relationships with key NIKE decision makers and influencers across the organization to act as an extension of the NIKE family.
  • Bringing the partnership to life: develop and implement creative and high-impact activations that help U.S. Soccer and NIKE achieve their shared and respective goals, including integration with our media partners.
  • Establishing new platforms and opportunities: work collaboratively with U.S. Soccer colleagues across all departments to help develop knowledge and expertise that results in creation and implementation of programming while identifying ways that NIKE can be integrated to support U.S. Soccer’s bullish growth projections.
  • Measuring success and communicating impact: establish key performance metrics alongside NIKE to ensure clear understanding of objectives and the methods of measurement against those goals while identifying ways to authentically share success stories. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of expertise
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic brand and partnership marketing – experience working with apparel brands or within the retail industry a plus
  • Able and willing to travel up to 35% of the time to all domestic U.S. Soccer controlled matches 
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends & holidays
  • Able and willing to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. 
Desired Qualifications
  • Pro-active and curious with a bias for action to provide great partner-specific value 
  • Strong analytical skills and experience understanding and interpreting quantitative and qualitative research
  • Creative strategist with the ability to open doors
  • Relationships with senior-level marketing executives at agency and client level
  • Deep understanding of the ever-evolving sports marketing and media landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent events through multi-tasking and prioritizing efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities
  • Experience with Adobe suite or a similar program is preferred
  • A background in, and passion for, soccer, sports and entertainment is preferred
  • Desire to be part of a team and ability to build consensus
  • ”Student of the Game” mentality and desire for continual growth
  • Accountable for actions/decisions and does not make excuses
  • Multi-lingual a plus
