Job Summary
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the biweekly payroll process, including month end general ledger processing and all tax filings for the company. This role will ensure that payroll is processed accurately, on-time & in compliance with all local, state & federal mandates for multiple payroll companies within the company. The Payroll Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the payroll process in coordination with the HR & Accounting teams to ensure payroll accuracy and will supervise the Payroll & HRIS Specialist.

Responsibilities (aka Essential Functions)
  • Supervise, mentor & develop a direct report on the payroll team; assist in biweekly payroll processing for multiple payroll companies as needed
  • Manage updates to the payroll system, Paycor, which may involve new earnings and deduction codes, tax profiles, work locations, companies and/or pay groups
  • Monitor HRIS system for accurate submission and tracking of timecards by non-exempt, hourly employees
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Assist with escalations from employees to rectify and explain perceived miscalculations or errors in the payroll system
  • Review biweekly payroll, 401k and miscellaneous payroll-related journal entries prepared by the Payroll Specialist
  • Establish & streamline procedures for payroll processing, reporting & tracking
  • Complete year-end W2 processing & related tax adjustments and filings for the company in coordination with the payroll system, Paycor, & the Accounting team
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies & all regulatory laws
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related field required
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification, preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in a payroll management role
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, preferred
  • Experience working for a multi-state and multi-division company required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, advance knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
