Job title: Vice President of Retail Development    
Reports to: Senior Vice President of Licensing    
Direct reports: None at this time 


Purpose: The Vice President of Retail Development will be tasked with driving retail growth for all of our partnerships, maintaining deep retail relationships that help with the sell-in and sell-through of licensed products, and they will be a key source of retail insights for our team.  This role will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Licensing to develop and execute a comprehensive retail strategy in order to ensure OneTeam delivers on our promise to be a best in class licensing agency and exceeds the expectations of our partners.  
 
Primary duties and responsibilities include:  
  • Developing and cultivating high-level relationships with licensed buyers at all relevant brick and mortar and ecommerce retailers;
  • Overseeing the day to day communication with major retail buyers and other retail marketing/support staff;
  • Understanding the retail landscape and anticipating changes that may impact our business;
  • Balancing the unique nuances of each rights holder; 
  • Working with the Senior Vice President of Licensing to set short-term and long-term retail specific goals for our overall licensing program; 
  • Working to analyze, synthesize, and summarize product and retail data to unlock retail opportunities;
  • Developing methods to identify retailers and locations for partner growth;
  • Leveraging and implementing retail marketing programs that increase the amount of partner merchandise sold;
  • Overseeing the sell-in and sell through process of retail programs;
  • Working closely with the Vice President of Business Development and Licensing to ensure a close working relationship with key licensees;
  • Working closely with the Sponsorship & Athlete Marketing team to maximize retail partnerships and pursue integrated deals that include licensing and sponsorships opportunities; 
  • Establishing and maintaining a retail marketing calendar to ensure timely delivery of marketing content to ensure retail and ecommerce execution;
  • Collecting and analyze retailer sales feedback and data to determine ROI on marketing campaigns;
  • Providing retail specific information and contributing to the creation of internal and external reports (e.g., quarterly reports, projections, OKRs, etc.); 
  • Traveling to retailer buying offices, trade shows, and industry events;
  • Other projects and duties as assigned 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • 10+ years demonstrated success in retail buying role or equivalent;
  • Established relationships across multiple retailers;
  • Experience driving merchandise sales via omnichannel marketing campaigns;
  • Preferred experience in licensing, sports licensing and/or sports marketing and a general understanding of group player rights; 
  • Comfortable engaging with decision-makers, senior executives and leaders;
  • Demonstrated success in developing strategic programs and engaging large prospects;
  • Public speaking competency;
  • Ability to juggle the demands of different stakeholders; 
  • Excellent client service and relationship management;
  • Project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines; 
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Team player with ability to motivate co-workers across verticals for prompt delivery of deliverables;
  • An interest in sports;
  • Strong critical and strategic thinking;
  • Excellent communication skills and follow-up
