Position Purpose
The Director, Brand Strategy will serve as a leader among the Sponsorship & Athlete Marketing team at OneTeam Partners.  This role will be responsible for creating unique strategies for clients, including platform development, utilizing OneTeam’s unique assets, including athlete procurement, sponsorship, digital marketing, branded and original content, esports and licensing.
 
This position will develop sharp consumer insights, tell compelling stories grounded in data, and build highly innovative marketing solutions for our clients.  This role is crucial in the development of creative strategy and original ideation for clients and prospects.  This individual will be active in growing the agency’s work by supporting RFP responses, proposals and developing supporting content.  
 
The Director, Brand Strategy will work closely with other members of the Sponsorship & Athlete Marketing leadership team to ensure seamless integration into the sales process both for potential prospects, renewals and upsells with existing partners, providing an organizational viewpoint to create better programming and drive incremental revenue. Additional responsibilities will include serving as a “steward” for cross-business unit creativity – serving as a “best practice” hub: collecting data, information, insights, case studies and redistributing it as necessary to maximize value.  
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist developers in the pitch process by helping to build the partnership business case for new prospects and current partners. This includes leading and/or participating as appropriate in presentation building/scripting, proposal writing, and at the pitch itself.
  • Collaborate with sales team to assist in the ideation, discovery and conception process for clients/prospects including attending and contributing to discovery and concept-sharing meetings, writing and sharing of strategic briefs for internal use, coordinating interdepartmental ideation sessions and securing cross-business units buy-in.
  • Be a key contributor to multiple client initiatives that involve data-driven sponsorship and marketing recommendations
  • Develop criteria and insights and utilize data and analytics to inform strategic marketing direction and activations
  • Measure the impact of activations
  • Create innovative ways to bring sponsorships to market
  • Collect data on competitors and the market, and present relevant insights as actionable strategies for brands
  • Assist in creating strategic plans for maximizing open and emerging business categories.
  • Collaborate with sales team to assist in the ideation, discovery and conception process for clients/prospects including attending and contributing to discovery and concept-sharing meetings, writing and sharing of strategic briefs for internal use, coordinating interdepartmental ideation sessions and securing cross-business units buy-in.
  • Manage the process as sales reps build robust programming that leverages deep business insights to align with client objectives, communicate relevant brand attributes, and engage target markets while driving measurable and impactful results for partners that enhances the fan experience and maximizes revenue for the company.
  • Assist the sales team in identifying and providing meaningful, relevant data to prospects and partners in a manner that supports the core value proposition, connects data points that measure partnership effectiveness with deeper insight and program strategy and tells the story of how effective partnership can/is working.
  • Provide leadership on the use of resources, including audience and fan segmentation, lead generation and prospecting tools, sponsor impact studies etc.
  • Serve as a best practice resource and leader of innovation in the partnership space.
  • Build case studies from successful internal platforms and programs for use in future sales opportunities in coordination with relevant account team.
  • Maintain office organization and other duties as assigned.
 
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience in the sports marketing, advertising, and/or events industries.
  • At least six (6) years of experience with proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals in sports / brand marketing (agency experience a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills and track record of making data-driven decisions to continually optimize performance and determine future investments
  • Experience with brand positioning, audience research and insight development, campaign platform and message development, building customer journeys and campaign ecosystem
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Direct experience working with and incorporating data and analytics resources within campaign development
  • Experience leading, mentoring and coaching high-achieving partnership sales teams to meet and exceed their personal business goals.
  • Demonstrated skill in synthesizing data into meaningful insights for persuasive storytelling purposes.
  • High level of business acumen, creative problem-solving abilities, and professionalism.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience creating and delivering executive-level presentations.
  • Demonstrated organizational and logistics management capabilities.
  • Experience using CRM and MS Office software; graphic design software (i.e., Photoshop) capability a plus.
  • Capacity to work a varied schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), relationship-building abilities, and attention to detail.
