Position Overview:  The Director, Ticket Sales is responsible for leading a staff of dedicated sales associates to achieve target revenue and ticket sales goals, as well as managing a staff of dedicated service associates that handle all season ticket members for both the WNBA Washington Mystics and the NBA G-League Capital City Go-Go. This position will report to the SVP and Team COO.

  • Lead and develop a team of sales associates, including advising sales activities, setting and reviewing goals, training and mentoring.
  • Lead the development of ticket pricing, sales strategies, and sales materials.
  • Provide strategy for ticket sales to reach team revenue goals.
  • Sell and service season ticket memberships, group tickets, and partial plan ticket packages.
  • Establish individual and team sales goals and monitor performance.
  • Support associates on sales calls and appointments to instruct and assist when needed. Provide regular group and individual training.
  • Monitor volume of outbound phone calls, face to face appointments and reporting of sales results.
  • Track daily, weekly and monthly sales figures, relevant accountability and performance figures to provide regular reporting to Management. 
  • Assist in the development and execution of group theme nights and corresponding group sales.
  • Identify and secure lead information for targeted groups.
  • Host group events outside of game days to promote future group sales.
  • Lead group engagement on-site, including Fan Experience Packages (FEPs).
  • Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals.
  • Take an active role in the game day experience, including leading staff, season ticket member engagement, prospecting appointments, sales tables, plan-holder hub management, and in-game events.
  • Research and identify new sales opportunities to include season ticket and group sales target markets.
  • Lead all aspects of the departmental budget.
  • Work closely with the arena operations team, including arena concession partner, to ensure all gameday initiatives are set and exceed the expected standards for ticketed guests.
  • Partner with the Director of Community Engagement & Fan Development to ensure that complimentary tickets are delivered, used and optimized.
  • Oversee use of complimentary community tickets and partnership tickets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and sales experience.
  • 3+ years successful ticket sales experience with a pro or college sports team.
  • 2+ years of successful sales management experience.
  • Must be familiar with and have a passion for the business of sports.
  • Must possess an ambitious, competitive and dedicated attitude.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Positive relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with clients, partners and team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Results driven approach to selling and sales management.
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize and manage a dual role requiring both management of a staff, as well as that of numerous business relationships in a professional manner.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and MS Office programs.
  • Experience with Archtics and TicketMaster is helpful.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
