Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is one of the largest integrated sports and entertainment companies in the country with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports. MSE owns and operates seven major and minor sports teams: 2018 NHL Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards, WNBA’s 2019 Championship Washington Mystics, NBA G League’s Capital City Go-Go, 2021 & 2020 NBA 2K League Champion Wizards District Gaming and Caps Gaming, an esports sub-brand of the Capitals. Additionally, it holds a significant investment in a seventh professional team, Team Liquid, an endemic esports team owned and operated by aXiomatic, in which MSE is an investor.
In September 2022, MSE acquired the regional sports network, then-called NBC Sports Washington and newly rebranded as Monumental Sports Network. Monumental Sports Network now holds the exclusive local television media rights to Capitals’, Wizards’, and Mystics’ games. The network is both a linear channel and a digital operation. Prior to acquiring the linear platform, the digital platform was launched by MSE in 2016, as the first-of-its-kind regional sports network for digital, mobile, and streaming platforms. Those linear and digital platforms are now combined and join Caps Radio, Wizards Radio, MSE Outdoor and Monumental Productions for a full suite of six media enterprises.
In addition to Capital One Arena – a venue which hosts 3M+ visitors across over 250 events annually, MSE also manages MedStar Capitals Iceplex (training facility for the Capitals), MedStar Health Performance Center (training facility for the Wizards, Mystics, and Go-Go) and EagleBank Arena (a 12,000+ live event venue on George Mason University’s campus).
In July 2020, MSE partnered with William Hill (subsequently acquired by Caesars Entertainment) to open the first ever in-arena sportsbook in North America, now called Caesars Sportsbook. The space now also boasts a destination culinary experience, Guy Fieri’s DC Kitchen + Bar.
MSE opened “District E powered by Ticketmaster” in the spring of 2023, a flagship esports and entertainment venue. This 14,000-square-foot live-event theater offers a 365-day-a-year series of immersive experiences in esports, music, culinary excellence, event programming, and community events.

Position Overview: The Director, Project Management and Architecture will manage and direct program and project management processes for Monumental Sports and Entertainment’s Technology team. This role will be charged with managing the technology and corporate project roadmaps to maintain timelines, budgets, and staffing. Additionally, this position will manage architecture efforts for new platforms and products efforts.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management of the Technology team’s project portfolio.
- Develop procedures and policies for managing the performance of projects in a consistent and reliable manner.
- Develop metrics that drive performance and create the ability to adjust various parameters to keep projects on time, budget, and properly staffed.
- Develop methodologies to align Key Performance Indices with projects to ensure the group is properly aligning projects and initiatives to company goals.
- Oversee the overall strategic governance of project by establishing standards, processes, and tools for effective project delivery.
- Develop project summary documents to provide consistent and easily understood updates and status to key shareholders.
- Maintain a multi-year technology roadmap with various collaborators to ensure that progress with vendors is in line with new initiatives.
- Maintain a multi-year project roadmap with various partners to ensure timelines are met, budgets are kept, and staffing levels are proper. Assist with budget development while allowing the Executive level understand trade spaces with existing staffing and funding levels.
- Work with vendors to understand development timelines and impact to projects.
- Collaborate with other Engineering management leaders to ensure information exchange is occurring on projects and new initiatives.
- Manage and direct architecture developments, driving the establishment of requirements – functional, technical, and operational.
- Ensure the architectural concepts of the organization is followed.
- Promote the enterprise’s overarching architecture principles while establishing fruitful commercial ties.
- Innovate the process for reviewing current systems to create an architecture roadmap that makes the most of pioneering technology and aims to advance modernization goals.
- Lead the process of collaboration with other teams to create the architecture and solution design for new systems, technologies, and improvements.
- Drive adoption across various initiatives within the Technology team by defining architecture design patterns and development standard methodologies.
- Maintain a constant awareness of and response to any threats to product solution, quality, staffing, and/or delivery obligations.
- Participate in sprint and system demos for agile teams and recommend areas for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of management experience.
- 10-15 years of project management/IT/Broadcast design experience.
- BSEE/BSEET/BSCS required.
- PMP Certification a plus.
- 10+ years of people leadership experience; demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, coach, and develop individual contributors and leaders.
- Good public speaking and presentation skills.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and work with staff at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills. Creative writing ability.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.

- Review budgets, handle expenses, and negotiate costs throughout a project to avoid going over budget.
- In depth understand of organizational change tools and processes.
- Thorough proficiency in MS-Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD/MS Visio.
